CLICK HERE: https://lnkd.in/exC4A7Yw to get started! Have you ever wished you had time to volunteer when you were younger? It’s not too late. Greater Springfield Senior Services has wonderful opportunities, especially in retirement! Retirees often bring just the kind of life skills, professional experience, and tested maturity that our organization is looking for. We have three different areas for volunteering. Our Money Management Program promotes and prolongs independent living for older adults who are at risk because of their inability to manage finances. Our Ombudsmen (Program) act as advocates and mediators to resolve issues that might arise between residents and Nursing Homes or Assisted Living Residences.

On Thursday, the residents of Oxford Place in West Springfield came together to celebrate "July Birthdays". It was an afternoon filled with laughter and good wishes for everyone born in July. The following day, the Information & Referral Department participated in a Summer Community Fair at Colonial Estates Apartments. The event drew in a great turnout, with residents eagerly engaging with the various vendors, enjoying a barbecue lunch, and taking part in fun lawn games. It was a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, learn about resources, and create cherished memories. Barbara Nurse-Parrish is a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse in the PCM Program at GSSSI, where she has been an invaluable team member for over 10 years, bringing her caring touch to both the Adult Foster Care and Personal Care Management Programs. Barbara’s journey includes the pursuit of a Master of Science in Nursing Education degree from Elms College, a goal she achieved with the support of tuition reimbursement from GSSSI. Her experience is rich and varied, having cared for individuals across different age groups in her roles as a Clinical Manager, Unit Manager at long-term care facilities, and school nurse in Springfield, MA. As a mother of four, Barbara found in GSSSI’s Adult Foster Care Program an opportunity to strike a balance between her professional and personal life, allowing her to be present for her children during meaningful moments, thanks to the flexibility and understanding afforded by her role. Barbara’s care for her clients goes beyond professional duty. She cherishes the moments she can spend with them, free from time constraints, fostering genuine connections and gaining a deep understanding of their unique needs and conditions. Barbara’s favorit part of her job is the ability to help these people stay in their homes and have the ability to get the help that they truly need. To learn more about GSSSI and the Personal Care Management Program, please call us at 413-781-8800.

Generously apply sunscreen: about one ounce to cover all exposed skin 20 minutes before going outside. Sunscreen should have a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 15 and provide protection from both ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays. Reapply every two hours, even on cloudy days, and after swimming or sweating. https://lnkd.in/eGZvGkBW If you have any questions about where you can find help, please call us at 413-781-8800.
