NAWBO Columbus was honored to meet Peter Marbach from the Office of US Senator JD Vance to discuss how women owned businesses support growth, job creation, and financial stability in the US. Women-owned businesses continue to fuel the economy, representing 39.1% of all businesses – over 14 million – employing 12.2 million workers, and generating $2.7 trillion in revenue, according to the 2024 Wells Fargo Impact of Women-Owned Business Report. We appreciated the opportunity to discuss policy initiatives that can help micro businesses grow. #womenownedbusiness #microbusiness #growth #jobcreation #smallbusiness

A big thank you to Congresswoman Joyce Beatty for hosting Brian Nelson, U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (TFI), and Andrea Gacki, Director of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) to discuss FinCEN’s Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Reporting Rule, a new federal rule that applies to small businesses as of January 1, 2024. This discussion brought together a powerful group of small business owners in Central Ohio to address concerns from the business community and provide feedback on avenues for effective implementation. The BOI rule seeks to prevent bad actors from using shell companies to launder and hide illicit funds by imposing a federal requirement to identify the beneficial owners of certain companies. #smallbusiness

This week, Ohio State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) participated in a Hard Hat Tour of the STEM Center of Excellence that is under construction at Girl Scouts of North East Ohio’s Camp Ledgewood. Senator Dolan, chairman of the Finance Committee in the Ohio Senate, was an early supporter of the STEM Center when Girl Scouts first approached the state legislature for a funding request in the state capital budget. Senator Dolan recognizes the importance of early engagement in STEM concepts and programs for youth in order to fill the ever-growing workforce pipeline needs of the STEM workforce in Ohio and across the nation. We are grateful for your ongoing support of the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, and of girls and youth in STEM, Senator Dolan!
