Yesterday, we spent the day recognizing our team members who’ve hit 5, 10, 15, and 20+ years of working at Goodwill. Special thank you to our keynote address from Winnifer Thomas-Cox who left us with warm and encouraging words. Cheers to another year of putting people to work!

Our mission is to put people to work.
About us
Goodwill of North Georgia, a 501(c)(3) corporation, provides job training and employment services to people who are having trouble finding work, want to change careers, or start their own business. With the agency’s support, Goodwill participants overcome employment hurdles caused by physical, emotional and developmental disabilities, limited job skills, poverty and other challenges. We sell donated clothing, books, furniture and household goods in stores across North Georgia, and the proceeds help fund our mission to put people to work. Since 1925, your donations have been helping to change lives.

🎉 Announcing our June 2024 Team Member of the Month winners! Drop your congratulations in the comments and discover what makes these teammates truly exceptional! 👏 Heather Pairmore, Skills Instructor, was nominated by Beth Williams and Amber Barrett as our June Team Member of the Month. Heather is being recognized for demonstrating each of our agency core values. Heather exemplifies service by ensuring that every guest, whether high volume or intensive, feels welcomed and appreciated. She is a person that notices the needs of each person and makes sure they receive high-quality services. When guests come in for assistance, she is the person they request by name. Our skills participants love her, and during recent graduation ceremonies, they have made sure to thank her, specifically, during their graduation speeches. When guest experience surveys are completed, Heather always receives excellent ratings. Sarah Thompson, Store Manager, Store - Cornelia was nominated by Sharon Canup as our June Manager Team Member of the Month for demonstrating our core values. Sarah demonstrates excellence in leadership by going above and beyond for her team members and guests at the Goodwill Store in Cornelia. She works hard, many hours a day, 6 days a week. The Cornelia team has been short-staffed, and Sarah has still managed to run and keep a successful store going. She has taught each of her team members to be accountable. The team understands expectations and though they are short-staffed they know she is going to work just as hard as they do.

In celebrating their 50-year milestone, SourceAmerica has selected to feature our very own: Lori White! A persuasive and powerful advocate, Lori has made it her mission to stand up against injustice and use her voice to bring about meaningful change. Lori refuses to let her dystonia hold her back, and she has told her story everywhere from the halls of Congress to her hometown. Prior to joining Goodwill Industries of North Georgia, Lori experienced firsthand the challenges of finding a job with a disability. She is quick to emphasize that advocacy for her isn't about getting special consideration; it's about leveling the playing field and laying the groundwork for a more innovative, inclusive and successful American workforce. https://lnkd.in/eT9tSb6q
