Earlier this week, Good Grief staff completed Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training. This invaluable program equips us with the skills to recognize and respond to signs of mental health issues and crises. With this training, we're better prepared to provide immediate support and connect individuals with the help they need. Staff left empowered with tools, resources, and feeling more connected after a day of shared learning! By participating in MHFA training, Good Grief continues our commitment to fostering a compassionate and informed community. We are grateful to the supporters of this initiative including the Community Foundation of New Jersey, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, the Hyde and Watson Foundation, the Somerset Hills Community Health Foundation, the Fannie E. Rippel Foundation, the Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation, the Six Talents Foundation, the F. M. Kirby Foundation, the MCJ Amelior Foundation, and the Mimi Washington Starrett Foundation. Generational differences shape our experiences with grief and mental health. Each generation has its own wisdom and challenges. By having open conversations about grief, we can bridge generational gaps and promote connection. At Good Grief, we encourage intergenerational dialogue to support each other through loss. “No one can whistle a symphony. It takes an orchestra to play it." Welcoming a new region to our network! We are excited to announce our partnership with the NJ4S Hub covering Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties. This collaboration marks a significant expansion of our reach, bringing essential grief support services to even more students in New Jersey. Training Overview: Recently, we conducted multiple comprehensive training sessions for this Hub, including: 🔹 Foundations Training: Providing a strong base in grief support principles. 🔹 Good Grief Groups Training: Equipping professionals to lead peer support groups for grieving students. 🔹 Advanced Clinician Training: Enhancing the skills of clinicians to offer deeper, more specialized support. Why This Partnership Matters: 🔸 Broadening Impact: By expanding into these new counties, we can now provide vital grief support services to even more students and schools. 🔸 Empowering Local Hubs: Our extensive training ensures that local professionals are fully prepared to offer high-quality support. 🔸 Strengthening Communities: Together, we are building a network of support that helps students navigate their grief and find hope. Thank you to the NJ4S Hub Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem for embracing this partnership. Together, we are building a stronger network of support for our youth. 👉 For more information on how to bring these free services to your school, visit: https://lnkd.in/dqhcCukK #Grief #GriefSupport #GoodGriefNJ #NJ4S #YouthWellness #MentalHealth #CommunitySupport #GriefSupport #FreeServices #StudentSupport #CumberlandCounty #GloucesterCounty #SalemCounty

July is Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. At Good Grief, we understand that BIPOC communities often face unique challenges when it comes to mental health and grief. Cultural beliefs and fear of judgment can make it difficult to seek support. Let's break the silence and honor our cultural differences while prioritizing our mental health. We are thrilled to welcome our new Executive Director, Christian Heiss, to Good Grief! Chris brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked in policy and operational roles in local and national non-profit programs focused on families in vulnerable health care situations. Most recently, he was the Executive Director at the Catastrophic Illness in Children Relief Fund, a New Jersey state agency that helps families with catastrophic medical expenses due to their child's illness. His leadership and expertise will be invaluable as Good Grief continues our work to support those navigating grief. "I've seen first-hand the positive impact Good Grief made in the lives of close family friends, building resilience and community in the face of loss," said Chris. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to help ensure more families have access to Good Grief's services now and in the future." We are excited to have him help drive Good Grief’s mission forward. Please join us in welcoming Chris Heiss to our Good Grief community! #Grief #GoodGriefNJ #GriefSupport #Community

Thank you to our sponsoring organizations who were integral in helping to make the breakfast the success that it was.
