Via The Atlantic: “'It’s like if Boeing went through all the trouble to build one 737, then immediately threw out the design and started again from scratch,' [Jessica Lovering, the executive director of Good Energy Collective] told me. 'That’s a recipe for high costs.' The 94 nuclear reactors operating in the United States today are based on more than 50 different designs. In countries such as France and South Korea, by contrast, public utilities coalesced around a handful of reactor types and subsequently saw costs remain steady or fall."

Rethinking nuclear policy from the ground up.
About us
Nuclear energy will be needed to reach ambitious climate goals, but we must first reconstruct the technology for a new era complete with modern, socially-grounded approaches. Based on our progressive values, we develop policies to do just that.

🎉 Big win for clean energy this week — President Biden just signed the ADVANCE Act into law! This game-changing legislation is a huge step forward for nuclear energy and climate action. It's the first major climate bill since the Inflation Reduction Act, and it has a lot of great components, including boosting NRC staffing and resources, accelerating licensing for cutting-edge reactor designs, supporting innovative coal-to-nuclear projects, and streamlining international nuclear cooperation.

As Pride Month wraps up, we celebrate the strength found in community and the strides we’ve made together. At Good Energy Collective, inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. Pride Month highlights that diversity makes us stronger and challenges us to create spaces where everyone can bring their full selves — whether in our communities, the clean energy sector, or beyond. Let’s celebrate the progress we’ve made and continue pushing for a brighter, more inclusive future.

Yesterday, in a bipartisan vote, the Senate passed the ADVANCE Act. Jacqueline Toth, our Managing Director, reacted: "For communities that want them, nuclear power plants are a powerhouse of local economic activity. Congress sent to President Biden's desk a bill that will help more communities access nuclear energy by strengthening the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's staffing and spending; enabling the use of accident-tolerant fuels; and supporting the licensing of new reactor designs, including coal-to-nuclear projects." Today, in a bipartisan vote, the Senate reconfirmed @NRCgov Chair Christopher Hanson. Jacqueline Toth, our Managing Director, reacted: "Chair Hanson has been spearheading the NRC's portion of what the White House rightly said last week is the busiest policy period in support of civil nuclear energy in half a century. He has demonstrated that he is up to the task of enabling construction of new nuclear technologies that support communities with high-paid jobs and carbon-free electricity. We look forward to working with him for another five years."
