Disaster response needs to start before a crisis strikes - that’s why we’re supporting GoFundMe.org’s Weather Resilience Fund as our Cause of the Month this July 🙌🏼 Their Executive Director, Amanda Brown Lierman, shares with us how the organization has evolved from mainly delivering micro-grants to verified people and communities in need in times of crisis, to proactively investing in readiness for the most vulnerable populations. The addition of DAFpay to these charity campaign pages on GoFundMe also creates a first-of-its-kind opportunity for DAF donors to participate in these campaigns in real time and generally diversify their philanthropy 💙 Read more in our Cause of the Month feature, and please support the Weather Resilience Fund from your DAF today! #Nonprofit #fundraising #philanthropy

June marks the beginning of hurricane season in the US, and experts predict a particularly active few months ahead, so we’re sharing our Hurricane Relief Fund: https://lnkd.in/g-S-MyNE. This fund provides swift, direct support to individuals and communities impacted by hurricanes. Every donation to this relief fund is meaningful, and helps ensure that grants can be sent out as soon as a crisis happens. Together, we can show up for people in times of crisis.

The Support The AAPI Community fund launched after the surge in violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Donations are distributed to trusted AAPI organizations working to rectify the racial inequalities in our society by supporting, uplifting, and empowering the AAPI community. To date over 250 organizations have received grants. We were honored to work with some many incredible partners, like Gold House, to make this fund a reality. #StopAsianHate https://lnkd.in/gZjBp3k9

Earlier this week we launched a Weather Resilience Fund to help address the outsized impact extreme weather events have on vulnerable individuals and communities. We’re doing this because we have seen the need for natural disaster relief on the GoFundMe platform increase: - Since 2018, more than $500 million of help has been delivered for natural disaster relief fundraisers through the GoFundMe platform; - Over the past 5 years, there has been a 90% increase in fundraisers following natural disasters on GoFundMe; - In that time, GoFundMe.org has distributed over $6.2 million to GoFundMe fundraisers via more than 7,000 grants through our Hurricane and Wildfire Relief Funds. GoFundMe, Inc. has made a $1.5M contribution to kick off this fund. This contribution will enable us to conduct a pilot program for approximately 250 households in California’s Central and Imperial Valleys. Working with community-based partners, we will distribute energy solutions and resources to households in these communities – helping them withstand and adapt to the extreme heat and poor air quality they experience. As this fund grows, we will invest in additional resilience projects in communities across the country that are vulnerable to extreme weather events. https://lnkd.in/g78Bt6qw

Effective disaster response requires a coordinated effort across many organizations and entities. It was a pleasure to share GoFundMe.org's unique contribution to disaster relief at the recent National Hurricane Conference in Orlando, FL, namely, hosting central head funds that often raise millions of dollars, then leveraging GoFundMe's Trust + Safety Team to quickly send cash relief grants to those impacted.

GoFundMe and GoFundMe.org recently sponsored the National Hurricane Conference in Orlando, FL. This was an important opportunity to connect with those who lead hurricane response and recovery efforts across the US. When storms happen, hundreds of people start GoFundMes to recover and rebuild, and thousands more donate to help those affected by extreme weather events. In 2023 alone, more than $100 million was raised on our platform to support climate-related disaster relief. Our team came away with new ideas about how to continue to help people impacted by storms during this upcoming season. Thank you to Angelique McNaughton, Melanie Standage (Yost) and Sydney Ashworth for representing us at the conference!

Every day, Americans make hard choices about paying for daily essentials, or going without. Everything from eggs and gas, to child care and mortgage payments, cost significantly more today than just a few years ago, and too many Americans are making hard choices about what they can afford to pay for in any given month. We want to help alleviate this stress for as many individuals and families as we can. - That’s why we’ve raised the goal of [The] Essentials Fund to $1.75M for this year, in hopes of providing much-needed support to more people. - We’ve also raised the amount of individual grants to $500, given generous support from our partners and the very real needs of so many people in our communities. GoFundMe, Inc has just given $250,000 to this fund, allowing us to deliver 500 more grants to individuals. This fund has raised $707K since its launch in 2020 so far and over 2,450 grants have been distributed to date. Please consider a charitable gift to the Essentials Fund today. Every $500 raised is another grant out the door! Whether you give $25, $50 or $500 your money will go to those who are struggling due to personal emergencies and need support from a generous and caring community. Thank you. https://lnkd.in/gPVjB__7

In the two years since the start of the Russian war against Ukraine, countless nonprofit and humanitarian aid organizations have worked tirelessly to support civilian populations on the ground and, in some cases, support their journey to a new country. We're proud to partner with Welcome.US on several programs, sending grants to nonprofit organizations helping refugees to resettle successfully and to Americans sponsoring newcomers to the US. This incredible short film shows how generous US citizens are helping Ukrainian families start over.  https://lnkd.in/gfkBHfCh

Today's a big day. Together, we've reached an extraordinary milestone: $30 billion donated by our community, for our community. Every donation on GoFundMe and Classy is part of that story—whether it's supporting teachers, rebuilding after wildfires, or getting more kids in sports. Turns out helping one another is the best investment you could ever make.
