Updates

  • We are pleased to announce that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has selected the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and the Global Environment & Technology Foundation (GETF) to lead a new coalition to address critical antimicrobial resistance (AMR) challenges faced globally and, most acutely, in low- and middle-income countries. https://lnkd.in/dmxUz2UQ

  • GETF is excited to be providing secretariat services to support the launch of the AMR Access and Stewardship Initiative (AMRASI) led by USAID’s Emerging Threats Division and Center for Innovation and Impact. This groundbreaking initiative, co-led by Elijah Kahn-Woods from CII and Jessica Petrillo from ETD, is assembling a coalition – including industry partners and in-country subject matter experts – to design and implement pilots that test new approaches to both stewardship of and access to antibiotics in low- and middle-income countries.

“Two birds with one stone”: this World AMR Awareness Week, USAID is excited to announce our approach to simultaneously slow the spread of antimicrobial resistant (AMR) pathogens  and address the drivers of excess morbidity and mortality in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). In LMICs, the lack of access to diagnostics and antimicrobials, alongside inadequate infrastructure and incentives to appropriately use these health commodities, perpetuates the AMR crisis and causes needless, preventable deaths. USAID is working with Global Environment & Technology Foundation (GETF) to launch a new project, the AMR Access and Stewardship Initiative (AMRASI) led by USAID’s Emerging Threats Division and Center for Innovation and Impact. This groundbreaking initiative, co-led by Elijah Kahn-Woods from CII and Jessica Petrillo from ETD, is assembling a coalition – including industry partners and in-country subject matter experts – to design and implement pilots that test new approaches to both stewardship of and access to antibiotics in LMICs. Stay tuned for more updates over the next few weeks and please reach out to Eli Kahn-Woods if you or your network has any interest in learning more!

  • The Global Environment & Technology Foundation (GETF) is happy to announce the launch of a TB Contact Tracing Innovation Challenge where we are looking to identify organizations who have developed existing or potential digital or non-digital solutions to expand contact tracing using social networks among TB patients living in South Africa. The selected enterprise will be able to leverage and deploy deep TB patient insights to either: ·    Develop and implement a digital or non-digital solution. or ·    Improve or enhance an existing digital or non-digital solution or program being implemented to improve contact tracing for TB patients within social networks.   The successful organization will receive $130k in funding to integrate and implement the TB insights alongside Technical Assistance from a private sector global health partner.   If your organization is interested in applying for this opportunity, you can learn more about the program and how to apply by checking out the Call for Proposals attached to this post!
