Leading the fight against hunger
About us
Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Inc. serves 21 central and southeastern Indiana counties by distributing food to pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens and other agencies who directly serve the hungry in Indiana. For every $1 donated Gleaners can provide the equivalent of 8 meals to those in need. Gleaners also has a variety of direct service programs that directly target our most vulnerable populations like children and the elderly. All of Gleaners' programs and services share the common goal of getting food directly into the hands of those that need it most. Besides providing food to food pantries, homeless shelters, senior apartments, and community centers, Gleaners directly serves hungry Hoosiers through 6 distinct programs: > Gleaners Community Cupboard (on-site food pantry) > Mobile Pantry > Gleaners2Go > Home Delivery > Summer Meals for Kids > School-Based Pantry > Gleaners Community Cupboard (on-site food pantry) > Senior Hunger Programs We're also a committed Good Wage Initiative Employer, offering sustainable wages and health insurance for all our employees.

Unfortunately, many Hoosiers are one illness or injury away from being able to afford food. In a recent survey of nearly 800 pantry visitors, our neighbors told us that medical debt was one of the key financial barriers they needed assistance with. The latest from Mirror Indy.

Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana is saddened to hear of the loss of Jim Morris, who was a beloved civic servant in central Indiana and a worldwide leader in the fight against hunger. We are deeply grateful for Jim's support in relieving hunger over the years. We especially remember these words: “If there is a theme that unites humanity, it is the notion of being generous, caring, and giving; opening our arms to be certain that no one is hungry, especially children,” Morris said. Thanks so much to Wawa, Inc. for a $10,000 grant in support of Gleaners' School-Based Pantry program! Gleaners’ School-Based Pantry network currently takes place within 63 schools throughout our 21-county service area. This grant courtesy of Wawa will help support a network that, last year, helped distribute 1.5 million meals, including 31% of fresh produce, to surrounding communities. We are very grateful to the Wawa Foundation for their commitment to making sure kids in our community thrive and receive access to healthy foods they need!
