Building Girls Of Courage, Confidence, & Character To Make The World A Better Place!

About us

Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta, Inc., serves more than 40,000 girls and 17,000 adult members in 34 counties in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area, northwest Georgia and Polk County, TN. Our administrative headquarters and a volunteer service center are located at 5601 North Allen Road in Mableton, Georgia and our service centers are located in Cumming, Dalton and Griffin. At Girl Scouts, our mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. We are the largest organization dedicated solely to girls—all girls—where, in a diverse, inclusive, accepting and nurturing environment, girls build skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. Girl Scouts embraces girls of all abilities, backgrounds, and heritage, with a specific and positive philosophy of inclusion. Each girl—without regard to socioeconomic status, race, physical or cognitive ability, ethnicity, primary language, or religion—is an equal and valued member of Girl Scouts. Founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low, Girl Scouts' membership has grown from 18 members in Savannah, Georgia, to 3.4 million members throughout the United States, including U.S. territories, and in more than 90 countries through USA Girl Scouts Overseas.

  • The 2024 Olympics in Paris kicks off today and we're celebrating the incredible achievements of Girl Scout alumnae who've made their mark as Olympians! 🏅 Among these inspiring women is the legendary Jackie Joyner-Kersee, a six-time Olympic medalist and the first woman to score over 7,000 points in the heptathlon. Her journey exemplifies the courage, confidence, and character, as well as the limitless potential within every Girl Scout. Jackie Joyner-Kersee’s words, “It is better to look ahead and prepare than to look back and regret,” resonate deeply with the Girl Scout motto: “Be prepared.” How many Girl Scout alumnae Olympians can you name? 🌟💚

Thank you to everyone who supported our Day of Giving! Together, we raised over $24,000 to help “Unlock the Outdoors” for more local girls through Girl Scouting. Every dollar raised will stay local to help girls grow confidence, weed out negativity, improve mental health, and develop flourishing friendships. 🌻 💚 Here are just a few ways local Girl Scouts explore the outdoors: ✔️ Earning 50+ outdoor-themed badges by learning valuable outdoor skills from planning their very first camping trip to completing a survival camping trip. ✔️ Visiting State Parks and other greenspaces in their communities through the Girl Scouts Love State Parks and Girl Scouts Love The Outdoors challenges. ✔️ Advocating for their environment by taking the Girl Scout Tree Promise and the Girl Scout Climate Change Challenge. ✔️ Exploring over 1,000 acres of greenspace at Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta’s three camp properties. ✔️ Training for the Run for the Cookies 5k. ✔️ Participating in events and activities with program partners like Zoo Atlanta, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and the Chattahoochee Nature Center. And so much more! If you didn’t donate during our Day of Giving, there is still time to show your support and help remove financial barriers so all Girl Scouts can participate in outdoor activities: https://bit.ly/3yaVBoa

"Before I came here, my biggest dream was to go to camp and it’s even better than I thought it would be. It’s a lot of fun and you have so many activities to choose from. You have horseback riding, you have archery, you have a lot of hikes and trails – a lot of them. And you have low ropes and high ropes, canoeing, you also have arts and crafts, and s’mores. That’s the best part – s'mores." – Camp Meriwether camper Because of Girl Scout supporters like you, we raised $91,432 for our camp scholarship fund last year. Donations like these help remove financial barriers so all Girl Scouts in metro-Atlanta can experience the joy of summer camp and make meaningful connections beyond a screen. This financial need continues to grow, and we need YOUR help. Would you help us reach our goal: https://bit.ly/46bI5Nn

  • Racquel Harris' daughter, Mackenzie, experienced the ✨camp magic✨ of Camp Timber Ridge this summer and encourages everyone this Day of Giving to help get more girls outdoors. "Every Girl Scout should be experiencing summer camp. Please consider giving a gift that will give other Girl Scouts the opportunity to have such a life changing experience over the summer." We're getting closer and closer to our goal, but still need help from donors and supporters like you: https://bit.ly/3SaFLR4
