It’s already day two of the Advances in Marine Ecosystem Modelling Research (AMEMR) Symposium in Plymouth, UK, and climate change is center stage. Michal Grossowicz and Nitsan Avni are presenting how Gigablue applies multidisciplinary Ensemble Programming, expedited by AI, to optimize the efficacy of our marine carbon removal technology. Hats off to Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML), University of Plymouth, and the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research for their curation of such a diverse yet focused agenda, bringing together top ecosystem stakeholders and the cutting-edge of science. Without extremely detailed and robustly validated modelling, deployment of carbon capture technologies would remain theoretical exercises. 🌊🌊🌊 #innovation #technology #greentech #data #AI #climatechange #marine #science

We are proud to recognize #XPRIZECarbonRemoval teams The Alaska Future Ecology Institute, Metalplant, and Gigablue with an “X-Factor Award.” Judges recognized these teams’ solutions for having the potential for significant carbon dioxide removal impact. ➡️ “Alaska Future Ecology team’s approach offers a win-win scenario for both carbon storage and biodiversity. By rewilding with large mammals that were historically present in Alaska, this project aims to restore ecosystem integrity, which in turn enhances carbon storage and sequestration at scale and sustainably.” - Lola Fatoyinbo, Ph.D., XPRIZE Judge ➡️ “What I love about Metalplant’s approach is the combination of two processes that are relevant to our energy transition–carbon storage and critical mineral recovery–into one process. This innovative approach is a perfect example of how to integrate technologies to solve problems.”  - Dr. Peter Psarras, XPRIZE Judge  ➡️ “We were enormously impressed by GigaBlue’s in-depth understanding of the physical, chemical, and biological oceanographic factors that impact the effectiveness and impact of their technology. We are very excited to track this team’s progress as they continue to develop this potentially game-changing technology.” - Dr. CHRISTOPHER VERLINDEN, XPRIZE Judge Learn more about how these teams are helping to tackle the climate crisis in our blog here. https://lnkd.in/gjWSeejz

“With great scale comes great responsibility. We have to be able to monitor everything we do [in the oceans] with very precise data.” - Sapir Markus-Alford This important conversation on the potential and challenges for Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal (mCDR) was held as part of the World Ocean Day Summit organized by Women and Climate and hosted by Michelle Li. Key Highlights: 🫧 The ocean can support a wide variety of gigaton scale removal solutions. 🐠 Nature-based mCDR solutions correspond perfectly what we should be doing anyway for ocean conservation. Think biodiversity, pollution, acidification and more. 📈 There is a relatively small gap that needs to be bridged to go successfully connect the slow and fast carbon cycles. This can be done with relatively low energy and resources, and presents a huge opportunity to scale carbon removal in an affordable way. 🏛️ One of the greatest challenges right now is cooperation between government, industry, research and community. In most jurisdictions, mCDR operations currently fall under regulatory pathways related to “ocean pollution” which imposes policy that is at odds with what mCDR is trying to do. In addition, regulatory differences between jurisdictions further slows the scaling of validated methods. A unified global regulatory pathway for mCDR is urgently required. Special thanks to Sarabeth Brockley for leading the panel with Sapir Markus-Alford, Gigablue’s Co-Founder & CTO, and Mallory Ringham from Ebb Carbon. Scaling affordable marine carbon removal @ Gigablue 🌏 Growing entrepreneurs

Wow! Carbon Unbound NYC exceeded all expectations! It was invigorating to connect with the top buyers, investors and innovators in the carbon removal industry, confirming yet again how passionate everyone is to relentlessly impact climate change during this crucial moment in history. A special highlight was the live streaming of Gigablue’s ocean deployment, which demonstrated our dedication to sustainable, ocean-based carbon removal in real-time. The overwhelming enthusiasm and support for our work was encouraging and deeply moving, reinforcing for me the value of the relationships and reputation we have built over the years. Thank you to the team at Unbound Summits, Joana, Kat, Rupert, Wills, Kamal, Elliot and Chantal, and congrats for putting together such an impactful event. I’m really looking forward to future opportunities to share our journey and bring even more partners aboard. #innovation #technology #sustainability #greentech #climatetech #climate #carbon #climatechange #carboncapture #marine #cdr #carboncapture Ori Shaashua Sapir Markus-Alford Matan Rudis

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹 - 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲! This significant milestone demonstrated our ability to collect in-situ measurements throughout the export process and provide “ground-truth” for carbon sequestration using widely-accepted standard oceanographic methods. During a week of open-sea trials a few months ago in March, we conducted numerous controlled deployments of our carbon capture particles. Using hi-res echosounders and double-trip plankton ring nets–as well as aerial drone surveillance, underwater ROVs and CARTHE drifters equipped with GPS trackers–we achieved repeatable, quantitative monitoring and sampling of Gigablue particles in low-mixing depths, well below the thermocline. A big thank you to our partners, CSA Ocean Sciences Inc., who helped execute multivessel operations and dives at the highest level of safety and scientific rigor. #technology #ocean #carboncapture #mcdr #research #team #climatechange #climate #science #maritime #cdr
