When Joshua Sharkey started owning and operating restaurants, he realized there was nothing digital for managing recipes. While there were Google Sheets, Docs, and finance software for inventory, nothing was tailored to what chefs do with their recipes—collaborating, sharing, training, adding images, scaling, and converting units. After years of searching and finding nothing, Josh decided to build meez. He spoke with many chef friends who also relied on a patchwork of platforms. Realizing no one was even thinking about creating what they needed, Josh sold his restaurants and started building meez. Now, meez is the tool he needed for his business and the industry needed as a whole. Recipe data is critical to successful restaurant operations. Historically, the industry has focused only on purchase and sales data, but focusing on recipe data gives you the full picture of your business. Adding recipe data can unlock significant annual growth! 📈

"Our product will never be 'DONE'" - couldn't agree more. From the makers of one of my favorite and most useful digital tools. Constant iteration. Constant pressure. Constantly evolving. It's what makes being a creator so damn fun and rewarding and challenging and scary and awesome. I have talked about Reclaim app many times on the meez Podcast and I just love the problem they are solving. So much so, I asked them to come on the show and talk about how and why they build what they build. Lots of great gems here. And what I love most is the parallels between building a great product in tech and creating great experiences and delicious food in the hospitality industry. Innovating and making people happy is the job of all creators, builders, and entrepreneurs

meez knows the industry because we are the industry. 👀👏 Meet Sergio Hernandez, Culinary Director & Account Manager, Business Development. 🧀 After working in restaurant kitchens for over 20 years, Sergio dove into the world of cheese and specialty foods in Vermont, where he dedicated himself to learning as much as he could about specialty ingredients. Sergio later moved to NYC, where he met meez CEO/Founder @joshlsharkey in the kitchen at Cafe Gray in Manhattan, and later went on to become general manager at the beloved Park Slope pizzeria Franny’s. He found a common passion for the finest ingredients with the owners there, and in 2009, designed, opened and operated Bklyn Larder, now a NYC landmark and standard for the finest, curated cheeses, meats and artisan produced specialty foods. In 2016, he sold his share of the shop to start a family and work in cheese and specialty food imports in Portland, Maine. Sergio's Favorite meez Features: 1️. For working as a cook: Smart scaling by ingredient 2️. For working as a business owner: meez Menu Analytics, specifically the ingredient usage by % of sales metric
