This 7-week Parent Support Group will meet every Tuesday at 6:30 pm via Zoom from August 6th to September 17th. Our confidential parent support group is designed for parents and caregivers of gender-diverse children of all ages to share experiences, learn, and grow together. Facilitated by parents of a transgender child, this is a great opportunity to better understand, support,commit and advocate for your trans or nonbinary child. Topics include an orientation to gender, confronting fear, leaning into grief, understanding medical interventions, navigating the legal system, creating a safe space in schools, and exploring the steps for religious reconciliation. Join GenderNexus for a free hour of Mindful Movement for gender-diverse folx every other Saturday of the month! This relaxed flow will include a brief introduction to yogic philosophy, gentle strengthening and stretching, and a meditation and/or breath practice to connect the mind, body, and spirit. Ashtyn Taylor (she/her), a CityYoga Yoga Teaching Training graduate, will lead classes. Ashtyn holds a master’s degree in social work and draws upon this training as well as her lived experience as a member of the queer community to build a trauma-informed practice accessible to all body types and experience levels. Our first session is Saturday, July 20th, at 10:00 AM. Sessions will be held at the GenderNexus offices (3833 N. Meridian St.)
