When Doris and Don Fisher first started collecting art, they believed in its power to enrich lives and spur creativity. It’s with this spirit that they made their collection accessible to our hometown city at SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Gap Inc. employees have complimentary access to the museum (perk alert!) but this month we brought a few employees to a guided tour of the Fisher Collection at SFMOMA, encouraging creative connection with one another and the cultural institutions in our hometown city. In honor of Juneteenth, our BLACK@Gap Inc. Equality & Belonging Group hosted a summer cookout to celebrate Black culture and all that Juneteenth stands for – freedom, resilience and societal contributions. Employees were able to honor and connect with Black heritage through food, music, activities, art and a powerful reading from Oakland Youth Poet Laureate, Nairobi Barnes. Banana Republic teamed up with Native Son to show support for the LGBTQ+ community with the first SoHo in-store event welcoming tastemakers, influencers, and editors from the LGBTQ+ and Black communities. To help bring the community to life within the store, Native Son curated a panel during the event titled Muse: The Influence of Black Queer Art with speakers including Emil Wilbekin, Phillip Collins, Shikeith, and Jonathan Gardenhire. In support of amplifying the voice and visibility of Black gay and queer men, a donation has been made to Native Son to enhance the organization’s mission. #GapInc #PrideMonth

Last week, Banana Republic celebrated its brand-new flagship store at 552 Broadway in New York's SoHo.
