For over 70 years, Friends of Youth has been driven by a belief that all youth should have every opportunity to succeed, and partners with youth and families to provide the relationships, resources, and skills they need to attain personal growth and success. With 24 program sites serving 18 cities in the Puget Sound Region, Friends of Youth provides safe places and emotional support for youth facing circumstances including homelessness, foster care, and behavioral health challenges. By joining our team, you will make a difference in the lives of young people by supporting them in taking their next steps toward safety, stability, and belonging. On Saturday, June 22, 2024, Friends of Youth hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Iva Place Kirkland with honored guests and speakers King County Executive Dow Constantine, Friends of Youth President and CEO, Paul Lwali, Friends of Youth Board President, Alex Lee, and representing A Regional Coalition for Housing (ARCH), Carol Helland, Director, Planning and Community Development, City of Redmond. Iva Place Kirkland is opening soon and will be an energy-efficient, affordable housing development, with 15 single occupancy leased units with shared living space, providing below-market rental rates to income-qualified 18–24-year-old young adults. Iva Place Kirkland is funded by King County, A Regional Coalition for Housing (ARCH), and the Washington Department of Commerce. We celebrate Juneteenth today by participating in a Black Hair Care Donation Drive in partnership with YouthCare Seattle, PorchLight, The Sophia Way, Treehouse, Mary's Place and Boon Boona Coffee. We appreciate the leadership and vision of the donation drive manager Brad Blackburn III, with YouthCare Seattle, who along with Eileen Schuetz, of Friends of Youth, will be happy to receive your donations today until 4pm at the Northwest African American Museum at 2300 S Massachusetts Street in Seattle. You can also drop off donations until the end of the month at all Boon Boona Coffee coffee locations.
