Fractional Insights

Our recent article at Fractional Insights challenges traditional views on #employeewellbeing and organizational performance. But there's an even more intriguing twist when we look at global productivity data. Key insights: 1. There's a negative relationship between hours worked and productivity across countries. 2. Technological advancements, including AI, make it possible for each worker to become much more productive. Increases in productivity in turn help decrease working hours. 3. Well-being and performance can be mutually reinforcing, especially over the long term. This presents a unique opportunity as we enter the age of AI. With increased automation and efficiency, we have the chance to create additional bandwidth within our organizations. But the critical question is: how will we use this newfound capacity? In our article, we suggest we should aim for collective thriving across multiple domains - not just financial, but also emotional, physical, social, and spiritual well-being. This applies at individual, team, and societal levels. As leaders navigating this transformative period, we need to consider: • How can we harness AI to enhance both productivity and well-being? • What metrics should we adopt to measure success beyond financial indicators? • How might we reinvest productivity gains to foster innovation, learning, and personal growth? The future of work isn't just about doing more with less time. It's about intentionally creating a world where technological efficiency translates into human flourishing. What are your thoughts? ❓ What's the inspiration behind Fractional Insights? Since launching Fractional Insights, Erin Eatough, PhD and I have been asked this question countless times. The answer is multifaceted, but two main inspirations stand out: 1️⃣ Our Personal Experience and Philosophy:  With over 20 years each in various structures designed to leverage research and insights in business contexts - from academia and research-based consulting (like HumRRO and PDRI) to industry services (like SHRM) and internal roles in government agencies and tech companies (like BetterUp Labs) - we've seen firsthand the power of applied research. This experience has solidified our belief in its value and potential. 2️⃣ The Fractional Work Movement:  This growing employment model allows expert talent (typically executive-level) to work for a "fraction" of the time. It offers flexibility and autonomy to the employee while providing affordability and agility to the customer. Combining these inspirations, we envisioned a way to make expert-level research and insights more accessible to companies. Thus, the concept of a Fractional Lab was born.
