About us

Our Mission For Foundation 45, our mission is simple - serve the Dallas/Fort Worth creative community by providing free top-tier mental health and recovery services while working to destigmatize the conversation around mental health. Our Background The punk DIY ethos is the spirit behind the organization. We are here to amplify the voices of the unheard. Born of the loss of two members of Deep Ellum’s hometown heroes, Spector 45, the foundation works to provide full circle support for anyone struggling with their mental health. In our world, what we can’t buy, we’ll make. What we can’t find, we’ll create. When a community can’t get the support or services its members need, we’ll come together to provide it. Our Services Foundation 45 offers multiple weekly general support groups through a program called Interlude45. We also offer monthly art therapy, focus groups such as our Women of Color support group, and Remix Recovery; Our substance Use program. All our support groups are by masters level LPCs, and are completely free to attend for Texas residents aged 18+. www.foundation45.org Live Fast. Die Old.

We are thrilled to welcome Lisa Vernon as the newest addition to the Foundation 45 Board of Directors! As our Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Lisa brings a wealth of experience from her journey that began in child welfare and evolved into a dynamic role in education. Originally from Harvey, Illinois, Lisa's educational path led her to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she earned degrees in Psychology and Social Work. Lisa dedicated herself to the child welfare field, supervising and supporting families in reunification and treatment foster care programs. Since 1999, she has been making a profound impact in education, focusing on Special Education and broader student support initiatives. In 2006, Lisa embarked on a new chapter, moving to Texas and becoming an integral part of the school district. Starting as a Social Worker, her role expanded to become the District Social Worker and Field Instructor for social work interns. Beyond her professional commitments, Lisa enjoys quality time with her family, staying active through fitness activities, dancing, and managing her own LLC. Join us in extending a warm welcome to Lisa Vernon! We are excited about the impactful contributions and fresh perspectives she will bring to our organization!

*Heartfelt Gratitude to all of our supporters!* As we bid farewell to 2023, I am filled with immense gratitude for the unwavering support of our incredible Foundation 45 family. This year has been nothing short of remarkable, and it's all thanks to each and every one of you. Together, we've achieved incredible milestones that highlight the positive impact we've made. To every donor, volunteer, and supporter: THANK YOU! Your dedication is the backbone of our organization, enabling us to provide quality services that make a tangible difference. Notably, 70% of our attendees this year hailed from the creative community, underscoring the crucial role Foundation 45 plays in bridging gaps in mental health services. We have helped over 600 people this year get the quality care they need. Many thanks to all the organizations, businesses and individuals that asked us to be a beneficiary and support our cause! This allows us to further our mission in providing awareness and funds for those who need it. I also want to give a HUGE thank you to our amazing counseling team. They have gone above and beyond to help our community and have made a huge impact. This is why we are here- make sure to give them a hug or high five next time you see them- they deserve it! Much love and thanks to our Board of Directors who continue to work tirelessly bringing our visions to life. May the holiday season bring you joy, and may the new year usher in even more opportunities for positive change. With heartfelt thanks, Lauren O'Connor Executive Director, Foundation 45 #Foundation45Family #Gratitude #PositiveChange
