🌟 A look into Fort Dodge Middle School: Members of the Student Activities Advisory Committee created signs to welcome students and staff as they entered the building. The signs featured messages aimed at spreading positivity and warmth. Students and staff were greeted with cheerful messages, encouraging words, and even some high fives and fist bumps, setting a bright and welcoming tone for the day. As Dodgers prepare for the upcoming school year, they will notice the school supply list for elementary students is shorter than in previous years. In a move to support families and ensure all elementary students have materials they need for a successful year, the FDCSD is investing in basic school supplies including pencils, markers, glue, scissors and crayons. 🌟 A look into Duncombe Elementary: Our Duncombe Lighthouse Leadership Team created a goal to fundraise money through bake sales, Valentine Grams and other creative ideas in order to purchase a washer and dryer for the school. The dream was proposed to the FDCSD School Board in February 2024 by three of the student leaders. Fast forward to June of 2024 and these amazing leaders have raised $6,472.98 through their efforts and our school has a washer and dryer ready for next school year! When the community heard about students doing great things they stepped up in an amazing way. Mick Flaherty, long time staple of the Fort Dodge community and his daughter Lisa Reisner, Duncombe Elementary teaching staff, generously donated a washer and dryer. When the students return to school in August, the kids goal is reached and they get to figure out other ways to help this great school with their money earned. The books inspired the students to recognize their own Unsung Heroes - people in the community who have made a positive impact on their lives. Their Unsung Heroes were invited to class expecting to participate in mock interviews. In actuality, they were attending an Unsung Heroes reception!
