  • In a heartwarming testament to community spirit and collaboration, the South Carolina-based nonprofit, Going Places, joined hands with The DeeAnn Flores Schertz Foundation and several more Chandler organizations for a remarkable tribute. In an unforgettable act of kindness, every student at Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary was gifted their very own bike, dubbed "The Blessing" in honor of DeeAnn Flores Schertz. A dedicated teacher and angel to many at Hartford Elementary, DeeAnn's spirit rode through our hearts as 830 bikes were revealed. Today, not only celebrates what would have been DeeAnn’s 60th birthday but also honors the anniversary of her passing. This gesture of generosity embodies her lifelong mission to spread happiness and fulfill the needs of her Hartford students. For Our City Chandler was proud to be part of this extraordinary day! It's a powerful reminder of how coming together can create something truly special, bringing joy to children's lives in honor of someone who spent hers making theirs better. DeeAnn - your legacy pedals on through every smile and every mile these children will journey.

  • A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us at our final Networking Breakfast of 2023! Your presence and enthusiasm for collaborating to bring resources and compassion to Chandler residents made the event truly exceptional. Let's revisit some of the impactful moments from the gathering: - Trevor Groth with the Chandler Senior Center shed light on the vital role of recreational activities for seniors, emphasizing how engaging in fitness classes and hobby groups significantly contributes to their overall well-being. If you’d like to get involved (including assisting during Bingo time), contact the Senior Center at 480-782-2720. - Jennifer Gustafson with Neighbors Who Care highlighted the importance of supporting seniors' independence, offering non-medical assistive services and educational workshops, including addressing legal matters like wills. If you’d like to volunteer to help drive seniors to doctors appointment’s and deliver meals, contact 480-895-5508. - Riann Balch, Chandler's Community Resources Senior Manager provided info on important changes to the City's funding process for nonprofits. For more information, please contact Riann’s team at community.development@chandleraz.gov - Priscilla Quintana and Tawna Mower with Neighborhood Programs shared the For Our City Day report. A total of 238 homes in the Colonia Coronita neighborhood directly benefited from revitalization projects, thanks to the efforts of over 1,200 volunteers! This is a testament to the power of community coming together for a shared cause. We're thrilled about the positive impact we can collectively make, and we're looking forward to seeing everyone again at our next Networking Breakfast. Stay tuned for more inspiring discussions, meaningful connections, and collaborative efforts in the coming year!
