This fully autonomous aircraft is capable of carrying a payload of up to 180kg and flying distances of up to 320km. We're delighted to welcome Andrew Schultz to the team as Pyka's new Head of Software Engineering! Andrew has spent the last 18 years working in the fields of mapping and robotics as both an IC and manager of combined hardware and software teams. Out of graduate school, he co-founded a company to help make low-cost, mobile, high-definition mapping possible. The company was acquired by Google's self-driving car project, Waymo, where he spent the next eight years helping to pioneer self-driving cars and leading the sensor, hardware development, and embedded software teams. Prior to joining Pyka, he held the position of Chief Technology Officer at Saildrone, helping to bring online two new generations of unmanned sailing vessels to advance marine science, maritime domain awareness, and bathymetric mapping with a low cost, low carbon footprint platform. Andrew will now lead Pyka's Software Engineering team to develop the custom software running on our autonomous flight controller, ground control station, and embedded systems.
