About us
In 1948 our Founder, Floyd Gillam started a small truck and farm machinery repair shop in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He saw the importance of establishing a reputation for timely, quality work, at a fair price. IN the early days Floyd’s original equipment included White and Freightliner trucks. Now in now the 4th generation of family leadership, that fine standard of excellence in service and equipment as a Daimler Trucks North America dealer enables company growth with training and equipment produced by the largest automotive manufacturer in the world. In January of 2013, Floyd’s expanded operations from 3 to 5 locations with the purchase of Freightliner dealerships in Rapid City and Ft Pierre, SD. In December of 2016 the company added more locations in Gillette, WY, Casper, WY, and Rock Springs, WY. followed by our 2018 acquisition of Rocky Mountain Truck Center and Elite Kubota in Belgrade, MT. The Floyds truck group rebranded the 9 locations as Floyd's Truck Center, unveiling a new logo along with continuing to employ top talent and maintain the best sales and service network in the region. The Floyds Parts Departments are also fully stocked and staffed with helpful, knowledgeable staff to take care of every need and get drivers and their equipment back on the road. The company features two full-service, nationally recognized heavy truck body shops located in Scottsbluff, NE and Rapid City, SD. All locations staff Elite level service departments with Daimler Certified, factory trained technicians on the latest diagnostic technology in the repair of today’s heavy truck equipment. Floyd's Truck Center has proudly provided efficient, first-in-class service to US truck fleets and OTR truck drivers from coast-to-coast for 75 years. Today, a reliable, efficient reputation precedes Floyds Truck Center as the premier one-stop shops among quality conscious drivers and fleets traveling along I-80, I-25 and I-90.

Jon Gillam from Floyd's Truck Center Inc. and SDADA’s Trevor Johnson joined the American Truck Dealers in Washington DC to bring a hometown perspective to the issues facing heavy truck dealers. We visited all 3 offices on Capital Hill (Representative Dusty Johnson, Republican Policy Committee, Senator John Thune, and Mike Rounds) they were all receptive to our issues and were on our side. We brought 4 issues to their attention and in order of importance, they were, oppose EPA’s Green House Gas Phase 3 Rule, Repeal the Federal Excise Tax on Heavy-Duty Trucks, Oppose the “REPAIR Act”, and Support Catalytic Converter Anti-Theft Legislation. Thank you to everyone at ATD for putting on a wonderful event and Jon Gillam for representing South Dakota’s heavy truck dealers in DC! Books on wheels, knowledge on the go! 🚌 📚 This week the Rapid City Public Library revealed their newest adventure, Bookmobile, which is sure to spread the joy of reading beyond library walls and into the community for years to come. We are proud to have played a role in the year-long process to get Bookmobile onto the streets of Rapid City, "every minute is worth it when you get to see the smiles of the kids who will get to use it”, said Floyd’s Sales Manager, Jeff Cullum.
