After a little over a year since we started, the First Bite team finally had its first real all-hands yesterday.
I expected it to be a little triumphant. We have a lot to be proud of. We pulled off a clean double in Q1 (2x revenue, 2x team, 2x customers, 3x+ active users!).
I didn’t expect an all-hands zoom meeting would be emotional, but seeing everyone in a room was surprisingly emotional for me.
I presented slides about our past, present and future. We discussed how we could work together to build a high performing culture. Every single person on the team spoke up, pushed and challenged, asked questions, offered insight and listened to each other.
When we got to culture, one of our engineers recited… “without that friction produced by contact with others, how would you ever lose those corners, those edges and projections..” and I thought, "ok, we have ourselves a team”, and it just got better from there!
I have never seen a team form this quickly. I feel lucky to work with folks that can throw no look passes to each other and trust each other to get it done. I’m so grateful for this group of humans and so excited about our potential.
