Conservation of wild felines through educational opportunities, responsible ownership and advocacy.
About us
The Feline Conservation Foundation is a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to conserve wild felines through educational opportunities , responsible ownership and advocacy. The Feline Conservation Foundation seeks to bridge the gap between professional zoos and private institutions to strengthen the genetic diversity of felines within zoological settings. We support our members by offering resources that are current and progressive that promote optimal welfare and safety. Whereas governments and other conservation organizations focus on preservation of the species in the wild, FCF seeks to function as insurance, encouraging breeding of those felines often not represented in zoological collections due to their special requirements. Captive management of feline genetics insures that although threatened and endangered in the wild, feline species will be preserved and, if needed, can be used for repopulation programs if later circumstances warranted. The Feline Conservation Foundation believes individuals can, through captive breeding programs and record keeping, contribute greatly to man’s knowledge of these creatures and their preservation. We maintain the individual’s right to own and propagate these animals in accordance with sound management practices. The Feline Conservation Foundation is dedicated to the preservation of these rights and the enhancement of these efforts through education and an open exchange of ideas and information among its members.

🌍🐅 Happy International Tiger Day! 🐅🌍 Today, we celebrate the majestic tigers and raise awareness about their conservation. Tigers are crucial to maintaining the balance of our ecosystems, but they face numerous threats, including habitat loss and poaching. 🌿🚫 Here are three cool facts about tigers: 1. Tigers are the largest wild cats in the world, with some males weighing up to 700 pounds! 🐯💪 2. Each tiger's stripes are unique, much like human fingerprints. No two tigers have the same pattern. 🎨✨ 3. Tigers are excellent swimmers and enjoy cooling off in pools and rivers. They can swim for several miles at a time! 🏊♂️🌊 Join us in supporting tiger conservation efforts to ensure these incredible creatures thrive for generations to come. Together, we can make a difference! 🧡💚 #InternationalTigerDay #TigerConservation #SaveTheTigers #WildlifeProtection #EndangeredSpecies #ProtectOurPlanet #WildlifeConservation #FelineConservationFoundation 🐾🌱🧡

🌟 Incredible Conservation Update! The Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) has made remarkable strides from Endangered to Vulnerable status. With the population soaring from 62 mature individuals in 2001 to 648 in 2022, and now exceeding 2,000 including young lynx, efforts have focused on restoring prey populations like the European rabbit and safeguarding Mediterranean habitats. Genetic diversity has been bolstered through translocations and breeding programs, resulting in over 400 lynx reintroduced since 2010 across Portugal and Spain. 🐾🌍 Despite these gains, challenges persist: potential rabbit population fluctuations, diseases from domestic cats, poaching, and road-related fatalities threaten the species. As we celebrate this progress, continued conservation efforts and vigilance are crucial to secure the Iberian lynx’s future amidst evolving environmental threats. 🌿 https://lnkd.in/gupfgH9s #IberianLynx #ConservationSuccess #WildlifeRecovery
