July 30 is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Unfortunately, hunger and human trafficking often go hand-in-hand. ⚠️ When people don’t have enough to eat, they become increasingly vulnerable to exploitation. Traffickers take advantage of desperation, offering false promises of jobs, food and a better future. This often leads victims into forced labor or sexual exploitation and is especially common in poor areas where basic needs are hard to come by. Hunger not only pushes people into these dangerous situations but also keeps them trapped, as their need for food makes it hard to escape. ➡️ Food support is crucial to prevent human trafficking before it starts. 🍚 When communities have reliable access to food, people are less desperate and less likely to rely on the false promises of traffickers. FMSC partners are at work in hunger hotspots with the highest trafficking rates in the world, including Afghanistan, Cambodia, Nicaragua, Sudan, Venezuela — and countries we can’t even name for security reasons. MannaPack® meals are used to support anti-trafficking measures, including: 🩵 Rescue operations 🩵 Community stability 🩵 Education incentives 🩵 Vocational training and microbusiness 🩵 Post-rescue counseling and safe housing Fund more critical meals: fmsc.org/give [📸 Photo credit/feature partner: Venture] #foodisthefoundation

Last month, our partner Mission Eurasia held a special community feeding event. The MannaPack® Rice was prepared Ukrainian-style with onions, carrots, spices, cabbage salad and a slice of fresh bread. Over 200 people gathered to enjoy games, crafts, a message about God’s love and eat a hot meal. 🍚 Many are internally displaced or unemployed due to the continued violence in the region. This event provided much-needed respite from fear and uncertainty — and FMSC food was the foundation for it all. Your donations provide hope like this around the world. Rosa is an artisan with New Beginnings, a ministry of FMSC food partner Handfuls of Hope. She creates beautiful bracelets featuring the Larimar stone and loves to admire the final product. 🩵 Her employment has blessed her family. "This means we have a good meal on our table," she said. 🍚 Rosa's dream is to see her kids finish their studies and to someday have the resources to show the same generosity to others as has been shown to her. FMSC MarketPlace has so many rippling effects — funds for meals to provide relief in communities around the globe, living wages for artisans to support their family, doors opened to education, growth and new employment opportunities. ✨ Shop to be a part of this impact: fmscmarketplace.org #feedingkids #empoweringcommunities

There is widespread Emergency (IPC Phase 4) in #SouthSudan amid deteriorating economic conditions and high food prices. Additionally, almost 695,000 refugees from the #Sudan crisis, and close to two million internally displaced persons, continue to drive high humanitarian needs [📈 Famine Early Warning Systems Network]. In the first quarter of this year, FMSC delivered over 1.1 million meals to South Sudan to be used by partners responding to needs and providing relief. 📦 Each meal costs only 29¢, and over 90% of every donation we receive goes directly toward producing meals. #HurricaneBeryl started an exceptionally early hurricane season, slamming through the Caribbean at the beginning of July. This was the earliest Category 5 hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic. ⚠️ Damage is particularly significant in #Jamaica and #Grenada. FMSC partners in the region are on the ground responding to the needs of those affected by the storm, many using MannaPack® meals to support their disaster response work. Gladis lives in #Zambia. She does not have the strength to work outside her home and, as an elderly widow, the only family she can rely on is her daughter — a single mother. Resources are tight. While her daughter works as a maid to make ends meet, Gladis takes care of her two grandchildren.   When Gladis received MannaPack® meals from FMSC food partner World Help, she said, “This is a big blessing to us. May God bless you abundantly for this great work. Please do not stop. Continue helping the poor.” Fund meals: fmsc.org/give #feedingkids #untilallarefed
