About us

The Food Systems for Nutrition Innovation Lab (FSN-IL) is a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) supported initiative as part of Feed the Future led by the Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. The objectives of the FSN-IL are to support research for development (R4D), build human and institutional capacity, and ensure stakeholder engagement to support the scale up of innovations across the food system. FSN-IL aims to reduce food loss and waste, improve access to nutrient-rich foods, and enhance food safety to support improved diets and nutrition in vulnerable populations. FSN-IL’s consortium of U.S. academic partners, global development institutions, and food value chain and business collaborators work across the three core integrated activities in the initial focus countries of Nepal, Bangladesh, Malawi, and Mozambique.
