FCCI Midwest region teammates Josh Newell, Ann Ingram and Rebekah Moore volunteered at Children’s TherAplay Foundation in Carmel. They watered horses, worked in the barn stalls and cleaned the arena. Another group from FCCI will volunteer at Children’s TherAplay on July 29 to stuff envelopes for a fundraiser. The Children's TherAplay Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit pediatric outpatient clinic near Indianapolis serving children with disabilities. It is the largest clinic in the country, providing physical, occupational and speech therapies on horseback through an innovative treatment strategy called hippotherapy. https://lnkd.in/g-UbeqVm

On June 28, FCCI teammates attended a Habitat for Humanity home dedication for a single mother of three children in Sarasota, FL. FCCI Insurance Group sponsored funding for the home's construction, while several FCCI teammates along with other volunteers contributed 202.5 hours of volunteer labor. The home is just under 1,500 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, including major appliances. The Habitat homes exceed hurricane building codes and are built using green building features. FCCI has partnered with Habitat for many years to help provide homes to deserving families in the Sarasota area. We are proud to help make a lasting difference in our community.

On June 25, FCCI teammates volunteered at the Community Food Bank in Grand Rapids, MI. Having volunteered there before, they participated in several tasks, from sorting food donations by type and expiration dates to stocking shelves. Members of the food bank are given a certain number of points per month for a determined contribution. Items are given a point value, with healthy options earning fewer points than unhealthy options. The members then check out their items and are given a receipt showing how many points they spent and have left for the month. Jon Feigenbaum, Linda Hudson, Amy Smith and Marsha Jensen-Lewis from FCCI Insurance Group volunteered their company-paid time off that day. We're proud to make a tangible difference in the communities we serve.

FCCI opened its doors and showed the next generation what it's like to work in the world of insurance for Bring Your Child to Work Day! They toured FCCI's offices, learned about different roles within the company and participated in fun, insurance-themed activities. It was a great opportunity for our teammates' children to see what we do every day and spark their interest in future careers. Plus, who knows? We might have just met the next insurance professional!

HEAT ILLNESS PREVENTION As temperatures rise, the likelihood of heat illness also increases. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), heat illness occurs when the body can no longer control its temperature. The body temperature rises, sweating stops because the body can’t cool or heat itself and mental confusion begins. Muscles may twitch and shallow breathing may make it difficult to recover. Here are some factual tips to help you and others stay safe in the heat: 1. Stay hydrated even if you don’t feel thirsty. 2. Wear loose-fitting and lightweight clothing. Avoid dark colors that absorb sun rays. 3. Know the signs. Symptoms include weakness, cold and clammy skin, nausea or vomiting. If you experience these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately. 4. If possible, stay indoors. By following these tips, you can reduce the risk of heat-related illness. Let’s beat the heat together! https://lnkd.in/eG38KEH #HeatSafety #StayHydrated #SummerSafety
