We're excited about our Community Equity Incubator, a two-year program empowering community changemakers by providing access to additional resources to achieve their goals. How will this initiative help? The program provides community leaders with $10,000 grants, peer support, and donor connections to drive change. “Positive change happens when inspired people come together,” says Chinedum Nnodum, Director of Community Strategies. The Incubator seeds ideas for equity and social change by investing in those championing these causes. Do you know… According to the Community Wellbeing Index 2023, food costs in Connecticut increased 11.4% between 2021 and 2022. Because of rising costs and food related public policies, less people have access to healthy food options, which contributes to an increase in preventable health conditions. For example, people who experience food insecurity are 2-3 times more likely to have diabetes. Thankfully, there are people in Fairfield County working to address the issues and fund solutions, including an FCCF Donor who has anonymously contributed more than $450K over the last 15 years to the Danbury Farmer’s Market so that SNAP recipients and other low-income individuals can access healthy food.
