About us
A pair of eyeglasses can change a life. Routine, reliable access to eyeglasses helps children, families, and communities flourish. Clear vision helps children succeed in school and gain the skills they need to pursue the careers they want, and gives adults access to increased productivity and economic prosperity. But today, this simple solution is just beyond the reach of millions of people around the world who live with poor vision. At EYElliance, we envision a world where everyone can obtain affordable, high-quality eyeglasses where they live and learn. We are exclusively focused on driving global and national scale strategies to bring glasses and their enormous benefits to the one billion people who need them - unlocking equitable access for all through government delivery, institutional advocacy, catalytic partnerships and sustainable financing. There are a lot of complex problems in the world, this is not one of them–join the movement today!

Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah shares Liberia's commitment after the recent launch of ATscale, the Global Partnership for Assistive Technology and Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc.'s report on assistive technology. Liberia's journey is a trailblazing example of the significant impact assistive technology can have on the health and wellbeing of a nation - transforming the lives of millions. Since 2017, EYElliance has worked closely with the Liberian government to increase access to affordable, high-quality eyeglasses for children and adults. In that time, Liberia has made huge leaps towards this goal. Launching a first of its kind school eye health programme to bring eyeglasses to classrooms around the nation. And mobilizing community health workers to provide vision screenings and eyeglasses in even the most remote and rural communities. Liberia's progress is a testament to how collaborative action and a system's level approach can bring about sustainable change. ❓ Has the recent explosion in big bet philanthropy left doers facing an imposing funding cliff? A recent Stanford Social Innovation Review article by Matthew Forti and Claire McGuinness from One Acre Fund challenges donors and doers alike to rethink collaboration, helping big bet philanthropy lead to even bigger social change down the road. They contend that a funding cliff often comes at precisely the moment doers are ready for a next phase, which is crucial to achieving their social change ambitions. This post-big-bet phase is one where the rate of impact growth will far exceed the rate of resource growth, which should make it a highly appealing investment opportunity. 📚 Read the full article at https://lnkd.in/eAKgj6iR At EYElliance, we support stronger collaboration between big bet donors and their doer recipients to create sustainable momentum for however long the long haul is to reach their shared social change objectives. #BigBetPhilanthropy
