July 25 is the feast of St. James the Greater, the brother of John the Evangelist, the first Apostle to be martyred. He was beheaded by order of Herod of Agrippa. James was one of the three Apostles who were particularly close to the Lord. He was there with the Lord and his brother, John, and Peter at the Transfiguration and in the Garden of Gethsemane. He is known as James "the Greater" to distinguish him from the other Apostle by the same name. The title has little to do with his function or the people's regard for him. Rather, it was a term indicating that he was the elder of the two. He is the patron saint of Spain, and the pilgrimage to his burial place, the Way of St. James, or El Camino de Santiago, is one of the most famous pilgrimages in the world. https://lnkd.in/g4W6SYM

No guts – No glory! “Today we live in a society that has taught us to be soft. There’s no challenge anymore. There’s no guts in anything. That’s the eighth gift of the Holy Spirit — guts! There’s no enthusiasm and no zeal! We’re scared to death of failing. Ah, if all you can do is fail, you’re ahead.” https://bit.ly/ERC82309
