About us
At Evergy, our highest purpose is to enhance life in the communities we serve. We know we’re not just delivering electricity. We’re delivering energy that connects us. We deliver an essential service to approximately 1.8 million residential and commercial customers to homes and businesses in Kansas and Missouri. Our electricity reaches about 4.5 million people, powering the most important life moments in the heart of our country. It’s a responsibility that energizes our culture. This is why we’re committed to sustainability, safety and a people-first mindset. Sustainability for Evergy means delivering clean, safe and reliable sources of energy today and into the future. We're embracing new energy sources to generate more power with less impact to our environment and adopting new technologies to help us be carbon neutral by 2045. More than half of the power we currently supply to our region comes from clean sources, creating more reliable energy with less impact to the environment. Evergy has a deep responsibility to safety and our company recognizes it is everyone’s responsibility, always and in all situations. We never compromise on safety. When it comes to putting people first, we pour into our employees to foster an environment of inclusion and development. Evergy is an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer. We know that the more diverse, equitable and inclusive we are, the better we will be. To achieve our goals, we need an innovative, diverse and engaged workforce. With that strategy, we can achieve operational excellence. We have a mission to be the best energy company without compromising safety, sustainability and our commitment to our Kansas and Missouri communities. We move energy forward to empower a better future for all.

“Safety is every day,” said Allyson, senior director of safety and performance management. “I really do think safety is every single person’s responsibility.” To celebrate National Safety Month, on this episode of Power On, we talk with the safety and training team about how they support Evergy to create a safer culture. Safety is a core value at Evergy and this team is looking not only at the safety numbers, but the person behind that number. This broad group of employees within the safety and training department who support different teams are all working to make sure employees feel safe when they work at Evergy. #WithEvergy #PowerOnWithEvergy #SafetyIsEvergy

Jason, Evergy’s manager of conservation and sustainability, was recently joined by Aaron and Matthew from Ducks Unlimited as Evergy was presented with a framed Ducks Unlimited national magazine. The framed magazine features an article about Evergy and the Green Team’s contributions to improving wetlands. Evergy’s Green Team is a group of employees and retiree volunteers that take on environmental projects across Kansas and Missouri since 1989. The Green Team collaborates with conservation groups, agencies and schools in enhancing and fostering an understanding of the Kansas and Missouri environment as well as improving natural habitats and helping provide access to important environmental areas. #WithEvergy #EvergyGreenTeam #CommunityImpact

We recently banded 8 peregrine falcon chicks at Iatan Generating Station, Hawthorn Generating Station and our Topeka General Office (TGO). We worked with the Missouri Department of Conservation, USDA Wildlife Services and Kansas Department of Wildlife Parks and Tourism to carry out this process, which allows for the organization to track the migration of the birds as well as monitor estimated population growth. This interaction and process does not harm the birds. This video details the banding process at Iatan, Hawthorn and TGO. Evergy's avian protection program is a part of a national effort to keep peregrine falcons, the fastest birds in the world, off of the endangered species list as well as to reduce the harmful effects of electrical equipment and their habitats. You can observe the birds at Iatan and the Topeka General Office as they progress to their fledging stage on our YouTube live cams at https://lnkd.in/eJAcwkrg

In our world, hard hats are vital. They shield our skilled workers on utility poles and in power plants from electrical hazards, falling objects and unforeseen impacts. As we observe Hard Hat Week, we're grateful for these essential pieces of safety gear, which protect our employees who keep the power flowing through our communities. ⚡👷🚧

Pedro is a transmission and distribution designer #WithEvergy and a youth baseball coach. During a recent practice, one of his players fell to the ground unconscious. The training Pedro got on the job kicked in and he helped save the child's life. Here Pedro and our public safety manager Tim talk about Pedro's efforts and the importance of CPR training. #CPRAwarenessWeek
