As of summer 2024, there are currently 26 states that guarantee a personal finance course in high school. 👏 This shows that policymakers, educators, and parents are increasingly recognizing the importance of financial education and continue to advocate for students to learn these skills in school. As part of EVERFI’s mission to prepare students for their financial future, we are committed to scaling financial education in a way that meets the unique needs of teachers and schools no matter where they are. There is still more work to do. 💰 Most recently, California has become the 26th U.S. state to mandate financial education, with high school students soon being required to take a financial literacy course to graduate. 🎓 Twenty-four states still do not mandate financial education and requiring students to take a one-semester course on personal finance is unlikely to achieve lasting results. MI Health has been working with employers to accelerate solutions to the concurrent addiction and mental health crises since 2017. We are pleased to see a growing movement among employers that holistically recognizes employees beyond their professional roles. This reflects what MI Health has advocated for from the start: equal prioritization of mental, financial, and physical health through a "whole-person" approach. Access to history, access to the world 🌐 Last month, EVERFI from Blackbaud celebrated Juneteenth with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America in Galveston, Texas with a special launch event focused on access to essential history and lifelong skills. Thanks to the National Football League (NFL) and Microsoft, each middle and high school student was gifted a brand new Microsoft Surface so they could learn with the interactive EVERFI courses. 💻 Students immediately used their devices to access the 306-Black History lessons to hear untold stories of black entrepreneurs, leaders, and change-makers who influenced the world as we know it. 🌟 As the BBBS Coordinator Cora Moore stated, opportunities like these allow students to have access to their history and the tools to achieve their dreams! #Community #CommunityImpact #SocialImpact #NFLFoundation
