Why did you choose STRIVE? ⭐ I chose to join the STRIVE Internship to gain firsthand experience in a highly professional environment that hones my creative skills. Working in D.C.'s premier center for conventions, entertainment, sports, and cultural events offers unparalleled opportunities to learn and grow in my field. Favorite part of this internship? ⭐ Being surrounded by creatives and like-minded individuals who share similar goals. What are you looking forward to regarding STRIVE? ⭐ Expanding my knowledge and gaining exposure to all aspects of the creative process, from conceptualization to booking to execution. Why did you choose STRIVE? ⭐ I chose the STRIVE internship because I like how it offers a unique blend of professional development and community involvement, which align with my career goals and personal values. I am particularly drawn to the dynamic environment in DC, where I can gain exposure to diverse groups. This internship not only allows me to apply my IT knowledge but also fosters personal growth through community involvement, making it an ideal fit for my aspirations. Favorite part of this internship? ⭐ My favorite part of the internship so far has been meeting all of the Events DC Staff. Everyone has been so helpful and welcoming regardless of if I am a part of their team or not. It has also been fun getting to know everyone's background to how they got to Events DC. What are you looking forward to regarding STRIVE? ⭐ I look forward to developing practical skills within the STRIVE internship that I can apply in real world situations and beyond. Specifically, I am eager to enhance my technical skills by working alongside experienced IT staff. Additionally, I look forward to developing a deeper understanding of how IT supports organizational objectives, especially within the dynamic environment of DC. Why did you choose STRIVE? ⭐ I joined this STRIVE Internship because I was very familiar with the events that Events DC produced and sponsored and wanted to be a part of and learn from team that helped bring the events into the city and help plan them. Favorite part of this internship? ⭐ My favorite part of the internship is seeing the events from the start and before told to the public. I love seeing the process throughout the teams in the Sports and Entertainment Department work with the clients and help bring their clients events to come alive here in DC. What are you looking forward to regarding STRIVE? ⭐I look forward to helping with research for events and being part of the client planning process for the events happening. I also look forward to meeting new people within the company whether it is my other fellow interns or department managers/supervisors. I look forward to networking and connecting with everyone here at Events DC. Favorite quote? ⭐ "Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit." —Conrad Hilton What animal best represents you? ⭐ Animal that represents me is an owl. I believe an owl connects with me because just as an owl they are good at seeing the bigger picture. Continuing our STRIVE 2024 internship spotlight to answer some questions about their time at Events DC, we have Sarah Klepech of the Sales and Convention Management department! Why did you choose STRIVE? ⭐ I chose to join the STRIVE Internship because I knew it would be an incredible experience and opportunity to move forward in my career. Additionally, when I learned how much involvement Events DC has with the DC community, I was even more interested in this position. Favorite part of this internship? ⭐ My favorite part of this internship so far is both the variety in people and events. I have met many incredible and successful people so far, which enhances my inquisitive nature of Sales and Event Management. There is also such diversity in the events that we host. Every day is something new and exciting. What are you looking forward to regarding STRIVE? ⭐ I look forward to understanding the process of obtaining clients and comprehending the behind the scenes of putting an event together. I am fortunate enough to be able to shadow and help execute 4 events throughout my internship, all incredibly different from the other. Being able to watch the event from start to finish is something I am looking forward to the most. Favorite quote? ⭐ "A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there" What animal best represents you? ⭐ I believe a dolphin represents me the most. This is because they are known to be curious and sociable, along with being extroverts. This would also be an accurate description of myself. #EventsDC #SummerInterns #WashingtonDC

Building a clean DC 🛶💚 A highlight of the Clipper Ventures // Clipper Round the World Yacht Race stopover in #WashingtonDC was the Anacostia Green Boats project! Taking their sailing talents to the Anacostia River, Clipper crews collected trash from the water using kayaks. Once back on land, the trash was sorted and prepared to be sent off for data analysis. This data will be used to inform environmental policy in the District. Thanks to Clipper Race for supporting our local community during their time here and to Living Classrooms and the DC Department of Energy and Environment for helping to make this initiative happen. #EnvironmentalPolicy #PublicPolicy #ClipperRace

Continuing our STRIVE 2024 internship spotlight to answer some questions about their time at Events DC, we have Sanai Anderson of the Community Engagement department! Why did you choose STRIVE? ⭐ I chose to join the STRIVE internship because it allowed me the opportunity to grow professionally and sharpen my skills in networking, communication, and teamwork. While, exposing me to experiences that will help me enhance in my professional career. Favorite part of this internship? ⭐ My favorite part of this internship so far was having the chance to shadow my mentor. When I was able to shadow my mentor, I got the chance to assist him with room checks and equipment checks for an upcoming event. I am grateful for this experience because it allowed me to have firsthand experience on one of the many phases of event planning/management. What are you looking forward to regarding STRIVE? ⭐ I am looking forward to seeing one of the projects that I am currently assisting with come to life later in the fall. Starting off our STRIVE 2024 internship spotlight to answer some questions about their time at Events DC, we have Salma Escoto of the Human Resources and Culture department! Why did you choose STRIVE? ⭐ Out of all of the options, this one caught my attention for a few reasons. I saw more potential for experience that would be relevant to my career goals. As well as the potential for future career growth and opportunities. Favorite part of this internship? ⭐ I have really enjoyed my projects and overall getting involved so far. I've had a great time gaining experience in what I am interested in. The work environment and employees are also an added positive that have made my experience great overall. What are you looking forward to regarding STRIVE? ⭐ I am looking forward to more projects and anything else that I can get involved in. Of course, I am looking forward to all the fun events planned. I am also looking forward to seeing my current projects come to fruition. Favorite quote? ⭐ "Think smarter, not harder" What animal best represents you? ⭐ I would say a butterfly does.
