The EU Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation, supporting prosecutors in the fight against serious cross-border crime
About us
The European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation helps prosecutors and judicial authorities to solve some of Europe’s most serious and complex crimes, including terrorism, trafficking in human beings, cybercrime, drug trafficking, corruption and fraud. Eurojust coordinates cross-border investigations and action days, supports joint investigation teams (JITs) and facilitates the use of judicial cooperation tools, such as confiscation orders, European Arrest Warrants (EAWs) and European Investigation Orders (EIOs). The Agency consists of prosecutors, judges and representatives of judicial authorities from the Member States. It also collaborates with third countries, several of which second Liaison Prosecutors to work at Eurojust’s premises in The Hague, the Netherlands. With contact points around the globe, the Agency is the gateway for prosecutors around the European Union to more than 70 jurisdictions worldwide.

✍️ Eurojust is stepping up our cooperation with Latin America! At our headquarters today, prosecutors general from 5 Latin American countries – Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador & Peru – and Eurojust President Ladislav Hamran attended the signing of the arrangements. Commissioner Didier Reynders, representatives from EL PAcCTO, and the prosecutor general of Panama were also present. ⚖️ The new arrangements will strengthen our cooperation in priority crime areas that impact societies on both sides of the Atlantic, including drug & arms trafficking, money laundering & cybercrime. A similar working arrangement was signed with Panama earlier this year, which already increased the use of Eurojust’s judicial cooperation tools by Panamanian authorities. 🇪🇺🇺🇦 Last week we marked the one-year anniversary of the International Centre for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression. One of the key priorities of the #ICPA is the collection, preservation and analysis of evidence. At Eurojust, we see the number of files submitted to the Core International Crimes Evidence Database (#CICED) growing: 📂 2 000+ files 🌍 14 countries To prove the scale and systemic nature of Russia’s crimes in Ukraine, it is crucial that prosecution strategies rely on large sets of evidence. 🔎A human trafficking network was dismantled through coordinated actions in Romania and France. The organised crime group used threat, force and deception to recruit victims in Romania and transport them to France for sexual exploitation. The proceeds were laundered by the organised crime group through different investments. 🔦Through coordinated efforts in Romania and France with the support of Eurojust and Europol, six suspects were identified and multiple victims were offered support.
