    Take the Call 📞 In sales, especially as an entrepreneur, always take the call. Today, I had a call scheduled with an eCommerce consultant I met on LinkedIn a few weeks ago. It was an intro call to learn more about his work and see if he could be an eTail Advisors referral partner. I was in the zone, deep into a project, when I realized the call was just 15 minutes away. I almost considered a "last-minute cancellation." It would have been easier, but I decided against it. And it was the right decision. Stephen Lawson was a pleasure to speak with, immediately adding value by introducing me to an important service provider I'd never heard of. We hit it off and will keep each other informed and connected on all things eCommerce. The moral of the story? Take the call.     Our team has a lot of conversations and one of our most common questions is... "What should we look do when launching products on Amazon?" This is obviously part of a larger conversation but our friends Stratably have done a great job of boiling it down. Here are 10 of the most common questions brought up by brands prior to launch: 🚀 Product Launch Insights for Amazon Sellers 🚀 1. Ramp-Up Time: Expect about three months for a new product to ramp up, with significant advertising and promotional support.    2. Informing Product Launches: Use search term volume and competitive intensity as primary inputs for developing new products for Amazon, alongside unit economics. 3. Content Readiness: 58% of brands report “always” having digital shelf content ready for product launches on Amazon. 4. Born to Run Usage: 70% of brands use Born to Run occasionally, and 26% use it for all launches. 5. Advertising Strategy: Invest 2-3x more in advertising during the launch period compared to normal products, focusing on awareness and balancing speed vs. efficiency. 6. Product Variation: Variate when it enhances consumer experience (e.g., color difference); otherwise, list separately. 7. Amazon Exclusives: Launch exclusives to avoid price matching issues and improve net PPM through eCommerce pack sizes and packaging. 8. Exclusive Product Launches: No significant difference in support from Amazon for launching exclusive products. 9. Tentpole Events: Avoid launching products during events like Prime Day. Instead, launch several months in advance to build momentum. 10. Replacing Existing Items: Work with VM or AVS CSM to link the new version on the existing ASIN’s PDP. For SNS items, determine with CSM if subscribers will automatically receive the new product or need to opt in. This list isn't all things but it's most of the important ones.     The more retailers compete the better shopper are better off, chances are brands are not. High Velocity Events (HVEs) are effective for moving units but if brands are not very careful, margins suffer. Retailers like Chewy, Amazon and Walmart have been bleeding brands for every point of margin for years. Now that every online retailer seems to be piggybacking on Prime Day TikTok has followed suit and in my opinion is going to make their presence felt.
