Infrastructure as Code (IaC) offers a number of benefits for automating and managing infrastructure deployments. However, securing the credentials required to provision infrastructure can be a challenge. env0, in conjunction with AWS Secrets Manager, provides a secure and automated solution for IaC deployments. The Process: 1. Self-hosted agents query env0 for deployment jobs. 2. Upon receiving a job, the agent retrieves AWS credentials from a #Kubernetes secret in its namespace. 3. These credentials grant access to your cloud or vSphere credentials stored securely in AWS Secrets Manager (not plain text in IaC). 4. With these credentials, the agent provisions infrastructure defined in the IaC code. env0, coupled with #AWS Secrets Manager, provides a secure and automated solution for infrastructure provisioning using IaC. By leveraging this approach, organizations can streamline their deployments while maintaining robust security for their infrastructure resources.

Self-hosted agents enable you to manage env0 deployments directly on your Kubernetes cluster. This flexibility allows organizations to scale their deployment infrastructure. You can deploy one or multiple agents, each strategically placed in a specific environment, cloud provider, or network segment. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝟬 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗪𝗦 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀: 1) The process begins in the Customer Data Center/Cloud Provider or Env0 AWS. 2) From there, a Deployment Request is submitted. 3) This request is then routed to the Secret Management Tools, which could include AWS Secrets Manager, GCP Secret Manager, #Azure Key Vault, or Vault. The Secret Management Tools then pass the Deployment Request Data to the Kubernetes Cluster. 4) The #Kubernetes Cluster then creates a Pod. 5) This pod then triggers a #WebHooks notification. 4) The WebHooks notification is then sent to the API Gateway. 5) The API Gateway then sends a signal to the Lambda function. 6) The Lambda function then checks the Deployment Progress with the KBS Cluster Keep Alive. 6) Once the Deployment Progress is complete, the Lambda function updates the DynamoDB. With env0, you can predict how much each Infrastructure-as-Code change will cost upfront. Plus, automatic tagging lets you track the actual expenses for each deployment, making it much easier to manage cloud resources that are billed based on usage.
