About us
The Entrepreneur in Training Partnership (EITP) facilitates free entrepreneurship, job readiness, and personal development training for currently and formerly incarcerated community members. The EITP is a collaboration between UW-Madison Extension and Defy Ventures, a national organization dedicated to helping end recidivism by training formerly incarcerated people to become entrepreneurs. Using the Defy Ventures curriculum and program model, we train justice-involved community members and connect them with coaches from the local business community. Entrepreneurs In Training (EITs) in our programs receive practical wisdom on how to start a thriving business and lifelong access to our alumni community.

Thank you to the American Family Insurance Institute for Corporate and Social Impact for this amazing video of our program at Ellsworth Correctional Center! We couldn't do this program without their support and our partnership with Defy Ventures.
As Fair Chance month comes to an end, we wanted to highlight the great work Andrew Glazier and Defy Ventures are doing around the country. We partnered with them and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections at the Ellsworth Correctional Center to provide support to the facility's Entrepreneurs in Training. 95% of people incarcerated will get out. Giving them tangible skills and hope for when that happens is essential. Our colleague Monique Williams leads this partnership to #CloseEquityGaps and we thank her for it.
