In the context of the global shift towards environmental conservation, resource optimization, and the development of energy transition strategies, aligned with Egypt's Vision 2030 and under the auspices of Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was executed between the "Center of Excellence for Energy Transition" within the petroleum sector and the specialized Norwegian company, Carbon Limits, focused on methane emission measurement and reduction within the petroleum industry. It's noteworthy that the Center of Excellence for Energy Transition, established through collaboration between Enppi and Egyptian Projects Operation and Maintenance (EPROM), stands as the premier strategic entity dedicated to serve the petroleum sector and energy-intensive sectors across Egypt and Africa, advancing the transition towards sustainable, low-carbon energy systems. This initiative forms a cornerstone of the petroleum sector's strategy to achieve emission reduction targets and facilitate energy transition. The center offers innovative energy efficiency services, theoretical and practical training and fosters awareness within the petroleum, gas, and broader energy sectors in Egypt and throughout African nations. The MOU signed by Eng. Wael Lotfy Moustafa, Chairman & CEO of Enppi, Eng. Hossam Asaad, Chairman & CEO of EPROM and Mr. Benjamin Harris, Board Member and Representative of Carbon Limits, Norway. This signing ceremony was attended by Eng. Alaa Hegar, Undersecretary for Technical Office at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Ambassador Hilda Clemesdal of Norway, Dr. Ahmed El-Beltagy, Director of Climate, Energy, and Transport Sector at the European Union, Dr. Thérèse Mekalad, Regional Director (Middle East and North Africa) at the United Nations Environment Programme, Mr. Kato Kin, Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), representatives from funding institutions, embassy delegates, petroleum sector leaders, CEOs of companies, and officials from the Center of Excellence for Energy Transition. This MOU signifies a significant stride in realizing the petroleum sector's commitment to energy transition, as it outlines collaborative frameworks to mitigate carbon emissions and reduce greenhouse gas outputs associated with petroleum, gas, and broader energy sectors, thereby contributing to environmental sustainability and climate action goals. #MOP #Enppi #EPROM #COE #EnergyTransition #OurValues_OurPeople
