Have you heard of the "Fun Economy"? 🤔 In October 2023, UNLV's Bo Bernhard and Zero Labs' Quinton Singleton introduced the term, which describes economic activities within the global Tourism, Sports, and Entertainment sectors. In their paper "Introducing the Fun Economy," they share findings that indicate this sector is larger than the global pharmaceutical, apparel/retail, auto manufacturing, agriculture, and construction industries and takes up 13.7% of the world's global GDP! 💸📈 More key findings from the study include: 📝 Engagement from sports fans grew 6.4% from 2019-2023. 📝 Both ends of the age spectrum favor new and diverse forms of leisure entertainment as omni-channel adoption rises. 📝 Consumers, especially younger generations and retirees continue to shift spending towards experiential purchases. As the "Fun Economy" continues to grow, we are firm advocates that brands that deliver omnichannel experiential marketing will be the brands that come out on top. In the short term, fun-driving experiences will foster brand engagement and emotional connections. In the long-term, this will translate to increased brand loyalty.
