Celebrating summertime fun with 4-H students in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana! These kids are heading out for a field trip and attending hands-on camps throughout the summer. DeSoto Parish 4-H serves about 280 students each year. We love supporting local 4-H, which is one of the largest youth organizations in the world. "Learn by doing" is the heart of the 4-H program. Students make things and show others how to make them, too. They attend and take part in club meetings. They exhibit at fairs, achievement days, and at other local, parish and state events. They attend and participate in camping activities, educational tours, and workshops. They develop citizenship and leadership skills through club and community activities.

Meet Jessica, OQ & Technical Training Specialist at our Houston office. Jessica focuses on Organizational Excellence and safety. She supports operations by creating informative supplemental materials used for trainings, awareness campaigns, internal ops. communications and more. She specializes in graphic design, learning-design, videography/editing, photography, campaign planning and training project management. Groceries have increasingly become more expensive for families everywhere, particularly during the summer when children aren't receiving free school lunches. We recently visited Sabine Parish, Louisiana, to see the Pine Belt Food Pantry's community garden in the town of Many. It is supported by SHSRP Management, a nonprofit comprised of local citizens involved in multiple community initiatives.

Each year, we get excited to support the Breakthrough T1D Cliff Harris Golf Tournament in Dallas to fund the mission to cure Type 1 Diabetes. Friends, family and employees all rally to support our very own Pro Football Hall of Famer, Cliff Harris. Harris' life has been about much more than just sports, his achievements illustrated by a successful career in the energy field, where he still works today, and by his charity work. For the past 17 years, Harris has raised millions of dollars for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, now known as Breakthrough T1D.

Today we celebrate the the signing of our Declaration of Independence and honor the brave men and women who have fought and perished to defend its principles throughout our country’s history. As a proud annual supporter of the San Antonio Food Bank, we recently presented the organization with $50,000 for its Food Rescue Truck and Grocery Rescue Program. This program rescues safe, nutritious food from being discarded by large retailers and restaurants, and re-distributes it to families and individuals in need. On average, each truck procures 16,100 pounds of food weekly, and distributes it to residential shelters, childcare centers, program sites for seniors, afterschool program sites, community kitchens, food pantries, and religious institutions all serving those in need of assistance.

Thank you to our Houston employees for volunteering at Kids’ Meals. We worked alongside other volunteers to prepare healthy lunches for over 8,600 preschool-aged children in our community. The meals prepared will be in the hands of hungry children soon! Thank you Kids’ Meals for the great work you are doing in our community and thank you to our volunteers for helping to feed our future.
