Within our partnership with Aeroporti di Roma (AdR), we proudly announce a new project to construct PIONEER, an innovative, large-scale, second-life Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) co-funded by the European Commission’s Innovation Fund. The BESS will store the excess power from Fiumicino’s PV plant, which we are helping design and build, and will be operated thanks to our intelligent Energy Management System. The system transforms used EV batteries, which are provided by 3 different EV-makers thanks to the modular approach, into stationary storage, enabling AdR to: 🔋store up to 10 MWh of green energy for the airport’s terminals 🌿reduce CO₂ emissions Projects like this will also provide greater flexibility to the electrical grid in the future, facilitating the integration of an increasing number of renewable energy sources.
