On Monday, our Summer High School Intern Program (SHIP) began with an orientation! We welcomed 51 high school students who started their internships in Groton and New London. Among them, 21 are working in design under the Marine Draftsmen’s Association (MDA), 6 in Carpentry, and 24 with the Metal Trades Council (MTC). These students will join us full-time for eight weeks, working alongside experienced mentors who have years of expertise in shipbuilding. Welcome aboard!

ReadyCT had the opportunity to prepare, mentor, and support New London High School seniors as they took the initiative to pursue a career in manufacturing at General Dynamics Electric Boat. Many of these students participated in the “Boat for Next Gen”program that gave them exposure to the trades sparking an interest in high skill, high wage hands-on careers. As part of our preparation program, we provided resume, interview preparation, professionalism workshops, and mentorship to ensure these students are better prepared to succeed in their new roles. We are extremely grateful for the support of Janet Farquhar, Dale Clark, our partners, and the relationships we have gained with these students. Hector Sanchez and I are so proud of them for taking a huge leap into a career in manufacturing. Pictured below are some of the students that celebrated at the Signing Day at Ella T. We are incredibly proud to have Hannah here at EB, not only shaping her future, but the future of Electric Boat.
