Tears of joy, awe, laughter, and overwhelming gratitude filled the air as we welcomed these very special guests to the EdLight Math Summit! During our final dinner, we were paid a visit from the wonderful Essentials Step Team from Ron Clark Academy 👣. The Ron Clark Academy (RCA) employs innovative techniques to keep students engaged and excited throughout the course of their days. In addition to providing plentiful opportunities for teachers to visit and learn their unique approach to education, RCA also has a robust arts program, which includes Essentials! As a token of our support (and amazement), EdLight provided a $10,000 donation to the Ron Clark Academy to continue their tremendous work. Thank you to RCA's Essentials Step Team for spending the day with us and showing off your hard work, discipline, and great moves 🕺🏿! If you’d like to know more about RCA, connect with stakeholders, and possibly donate, click here 💫: https://lnkd.in/gZjGePBa #RCA #RonClarkAcademy #EdLight #EdLightPBC #EquityinEducation #EdLightMathSummit

Check out Day 2 of our EdLight Math Summit Rewind! 🌪️📚 James O’Neal (James ONeal, Jr., M.Ed.), Founder of Mastery for All, hosted an interactive workshop on how we can make math more enjoyable for students entitled, “This is Math Joy: 4 Essential Ingredients for Thriving Math Classrooms!” 🏫🎒 James grounded us in four cultures that we can all use to make our classrooms a motivating and electrifying place for students:   ⚡ Praise ⚡ Competence  ⚡ Belonging  ⚡ Autonomy The more we emphasize that students are equal partners in their education, the more they feel connected and responsible for their journey. Thank you James for leading such an amazing session! Did you miss the EdLight Math Summit 📚💡? Lucky for you, our team is ready to recap all we’ve learned! Earlier this month, EdLight, PBC held our first Math Summit in Atlanta, GA to bring leaders directly from classrooms, academia, and the industry together to explore how to increase pathways for students to find a joy of learning in mathematics that is grounded in equity and impact. We were graciously able to host the esteemed Dr. Nicole M. Joseph, Associate Professor of Mathematics at Vanderbilt Peabody College, for our opening keynote. Dr. Joseph grounded us in her extensive research on the intersectional experiences of Black girls and women in mathematics by walking us through the following guiding questions: 🌟 Why are Black girls disproportionately underrepresented in mathematics? 🌟 What do we know about Black girls and math learning? 🌟 What can we do? We thank Dr. Joseph, along with our network of educators for deepening this ongoing conversation!  If you'd like to hear more about EdLight, sign up here! https://lnkd.in/gzZ-dY6z We light the path for teachers to provide equitable, student-centered feedback by making it easy to pay attention to student work. #EdLightMathSummit #EdLightPBC #EquityinMath #AIinEducation #Education #EdTechSolutions
