About to fly home after my first week at Echo Labs and could not be more excited. I started work in the online video space in 2010 over the next 10 years helped several hundred schools deploy a compressive media strategy. In every deployment the topic of transcriptions and closed captions was consistently a major problem we did not have a solution for. There were semi affordable solutions with low accuracy and an inability to meet ADA compliance or expensive high accuracy human captions that cost hundreds per hour making them cost prohibitive for most content at most schools. Technology and funding was well behind this important legislation. I put our tech through its paces all week and without fail our propetary AI produced 99% accurate, ADA complaint captions in hours for 40% less than others charge. It’s a very cool moment when for 14 years you are told that can’t be done and then, it’s done.
