Culture will form, and leaders ensure it’s a winning culture rather than a toxic one. A culture of Extreme Ownership empowers every team member with knowledge of who they are, what they're doing, how to do it, and, most importantly, why they are doing it. When your team is able to lead and take ownership at every level, then they will be able to solve problems, support their teammates, and drive the team to win. You’re going to do things, and the world won’t recognize its brilliance.    But don’t do things to get success and approval.    You’ll only be disappointed because not everything you do will be a win.    Do it because it’s the right thing to do.    Do it because it might help another person. And that’s more important than any accolade.

Just like any other skill, leadership is easier to learn with a coach.    For the first time, we are offering 1-on-1 Executive Coaching to provide senior leaders with a trusted, confidential, and experienced leadership partner. Good leaders keep this in mind when faced with difficult decisions. When you are in a situation and it seems like there is no good answer or it is a no win, do the right things for the right reasons. Your character and integrity are tested in these moments and we all face them. Choose to do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. It may mean a blow to your ego or put you behind on a task or you lose a client but when the team and mission are a success and you have stayed true to your values, you will win in the end. #leadership #extremeownership #echelonfront

You set the example for your team’s culture. When mistakes happen—as they inevitably will—avoid the temptation to punish or criticize. As a leader, you must take ownership of the problem, and the rest of your team will take note. Owning your mistakes fosters trust and demonstrates the importance of accountability—a crucial aspect of any strong culture. This is another reason workplace culture is important—it creates the behaviors you want your people to espouse without you having to say anything. Simple mission. Simple plan. Simple communication. We test our ability to keep things simple by implementing the Readback. Asking for a Readback from your teammates in the office is one thing, but asking for one from your family members is something else entirely. Can you imagine your teenager's blank stare when you ask for a Readback of the carpool plan for the weekend's soccer tournament? Or the tension that might ensue with your spouse when you asking them for a Readback feels condescending? A Readback isn't a test of their listening skills, it's a test of your communication skills. I can't think of an environment that requires more creativity to implement the Readback than at home with our families. How do you get a Readback from your family members to ensure you are all aligned? #extremeownershipathome #leadershipskills #keepitsimple

Few things actually matter. This was a key insight Jocko Willink emphasized multiple times at the Council, our recent mountain leadership retreat. We often get hung up on things that don’t matter, expending so much energy and emotion unnecessarily. We need to be intentional about where we invest our energy. Our energy and must be aligned with what truly matters to accomplish our mission.

Everyone is responsible for creating a culture inside an organization. You can’t dictate it from the top down. To create a winning culture, you have to build relationships and collaborate with your team. But when your team is bought into an Extreme Ownership culture, every team member will be aligned to work together towards accomplishing the mission. They’ll get things done and be proud of the work they do. Learn how to create a Culture of Extreme Ownership to benefit your team on our online Academy: https://lnkd.in/gQ6ZEmWR
