Slip clutches can play a critical role within a wave energy converter (WEC) system. The slip clutch’s primary function is to protect the gearbox from potential damage during high-impact events by regulating the torque transferred from the waves to the generator. This miniature WEC was developed by a University of Waterloo student team using our Polyclutch Slip-Ease clutch.
