    Yesterday, dozens of DLC crews traveled 170-miles across the state to assist Met-Ed with restoration efforts in York, Pennsylvania after storms rolled through earlier this week. We’re proud to step up and help bring its residents back into service. Thank you to our crews in helping our commonwealth neighbors and join us in wishing them a safe trip!

    Did you know that responsibly managing vegetation along power lines is crucial for ensuring safe and reliable electric service? In 2023 alone, we inspected and maintained 1,300 miles of distribution lines and more than 200 miles of transmission lines using best-in-class industry practices.  Alongside partners such as Tree Pittsburgh and the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania, we’re responsibly managing biodiversity in the communities we serve.  Curious to learn more?     DLC's Interim General Manager of Underground Justin Bolitho was recently featured on the Soul Pitt Media's Health and Business Report. One highlight is DLC’s Community Impact Grants (CIG) program, which supports grassroot nonprofits in our service territory with microgrants benefiting social equity, education and environmental justice. Through this program, DLC has awarded more than $600,000 to nearly 100 local organizations in just three years, making lasting positive impacts across our region.     We are thrilled to announce the reopening of the Community Impact Grants (CIG) program, aimed at supporting grassroots organizations in Allegheny and Beaver counties. These microgrants, potentially totaling up to $10,000 each, are designed to advance initiatives in environmental justice, education and social equity. Since its inception in 2021, the CIG program has been instrumental in funding nearly 100 projects, with a strong emphasis on diversity, equity and community impact. Last year alone, DLC supported 38 unique projects spanning areas such as food access, STEAM education, refugee assistance and more.     DLC recently hosted a networking event, bringing together key players from the utility sector alongside more than 40 utility contractors, including 30 diverse suppliers. Curated by Darcie Orr, senior manager of procurement excellence, the event bolstered collaboration and growth opportunities within Pittsburgh's business community with Utility Overview Sessions led by local industry leaders like Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, Peoples Natural Gas, FirstEnergy, Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority, and DLC. A highlight of the event was the roundtable networking session, facilitating direct interactions between diverse suppliers and utilities. Kendra Sakoian, DLC's chief procurement Officer, emphasized in her closing remarks our dedication to supporting local economic development through inclusive practices. This format allowed for meaningful connections and potential partnerships to blossom, reflecting our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive business environment.
