Building Doctor Droid (YC W23) -- A Bot that can investigate production issues on your behalf

At Doctor Droid (YC W23) we are building an Open Source framework to enable engineers automate investigations for on-call issues. I know it's a big vision, but from current feedback this framework makes it 10x easier for engineers to investigate issues in production. How? * Senior engineers can define steps for investigation (with deep integration to 10+ observability tools -- query metrics, logs, DBs, run scripts, check configs) * The defined playbooks/runbooks can be connected to alert messages from Slack / PagerDuty / OpsGenie / etc.. No need to investigate manually from Google Docs. or trying to guess. * Engineer can see the investigation snapshot at the alerting moment / see the investigation from past alerts -- so they can correlate faster. We are currently inviting beta testers for feedback on the repo. If anyone is interested, please DM me -- I'll send you the repo link with more details! #debugging #startups #observability

Doctor Droid (YC W23) -- Automating investigation of production incident

Here's a story about one of our users. Divyanshu is the lead DevOps engineer at Freight Tiger, one of India's leading tech logistics startups. Their team faced the challenge of receiving too many alerts on a daily basis. This led to significant alert fatigue and their team started to implement Weekly Huddles to discuss actionable to improve Alert Quality in their team. It would take Divyanshu and the team hours to manually analyse all the alerts every week and identify which alerts were buzzing the most and who was responsible for it. His colleague Onkar came across Doctor Droid Slack bot and found it could be interesting for the team to try. Divyanshu Jaiswal installed the Slack bot across one channel in Slack and then all their alerting channels. After installation, Divyanshu instantly got the insights on the most noisy alert in each channel in his workspace and knew exactly what needed to be reduced. And by whom. Now the weekly discussions are just everyone evaluating their own channel dashboards in Doctor Droid and deciding which ones they need to clear to reduce the clutter. No more follow-ups from Divyanshu! The EMs and other managers too have access to the same dashboard so it's easy to be on the same page. Sounds familiar situation? Try out Doctor Droid Slack bot today -- it's under the free tools section on our website -- my DMs always open for any feedback or questions! #startups #engineering #DevOps

One of the engineering managers using our product mentioned how Doctor Droid is helping them in their weekly on-call standup. Before: Every Service owner will spend 1-2 hours and create a report of the top issues reported by their service. They will need to glance through each of the alert and then create a summary + analysis of it. After installing AlertOps Slack Bot: They just directly open their alertops dashboard 5 minutes before the meeting, see the analysis and summary, and then present it to the team. The To-Dos and actionables are clear. ❌ No more manual reviews for 1-2 hours ✅ Automated insights in a minute ✅ Be on top of your alerts. Keep them actionable and sharp. Try out our slack bot today and accelerate productivity for your team! #engineering #startups #growth #alerts

Are your alert channels, "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"? Statistics show that, if you receive more than 10 alerts in a slack channel in a day, there is a very high likelihood that your team might miss the next "real" alert. Or your engineers will spend too much time getting distracted from things that don't matter. But what can you do about it? You have multiple alerts setup by different engineers using multiple tools. Are you worried it's going to be hard to analyse those alerts and streamline your process? Not anymore. At Doctor Droid, we have recently built an AlertOps #slack bot. Once you add the bot into a slack channel, it automatically.

At Dr. Droid (Y Combinator W23), we recently created a Slack bot. Add the bot to your alert channels in slack and instantly get your team's analysis. Here's what this dashboard shows: * The company had some outage on 16th or 17th Jan -- both Sentry & Datadog were buzzing. * CloudWatch alerts are quite less noisy (or have low coverage) If you want a dashboard with panels like these, go for it! P.S.: This is for one month, but you can see it for 3 / 6 / 12 months / more also! #Engineering #Alerting

While working on creating the prototype for our latest alert intelligence module, I had to explore multiple new dev-tools for my use-case: Streamlit, GitHub codespaces and Replit! When could these tools be useful for you? * Streamlit -- Streamlit feels like the easiest way for a python developer (🙋🏽♂️) to build UI applications. See this is what I could make in less than a few hours with ZERO frontend experience -- https://lnkd.in/gGFNM_R4 * Github Codespaces -- Cloud IDE most feels almost the same as an offline IDE -- same UI, same working, except when I build something locally here, it's a URL that's shareable to anyone. 😬 So super easy to prototype & get feedback. * Replit -- Absolutely wonderful for someone trying to learn coding from scratch but not a very easy switch for me given my habit of PyCharm / traditional coding habits 😂 Have you tried any of these? Do share your experiences! If you are interested in discovering & learning about new tools and technologies, you're at the right place! #engineering #streamlit #replit #github
