Welcome to Downtown Santa Monica BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group!
Led by BIG Partner Leon Rost - a California native - our L.A. studio is located a few blocks from the beach in Santa Monica, joining BIG’s global studios in Copenhagen, New York, London, Barcelona, Shenzhen, Zurich, and Oslo. "The search for our new home in L.A. followed the pursuits that often define our work - connection to nature, water, and sky, as well as to city, history, and community. We found it all in this gem, a 1928 building in Santa Monica designed by legendary architect Paul Williams. As a Japanese Californian I am excited to root BIG on the Pacific Coast. In the city of storytelling, big dreams, and a pioneer spirit, I am certain L.A. will be a fertile frontier for continued experimentation. You could say BIG - though born in Copenhagen - has always been an Angeleno at heart." - Leon Rost, Partner, BIG Read more about the studio here: https://loom.ly/ZpMt_fM Our L.A. team hopes to see you soon! #BIGArchitecture #BIGLA #SantaMonica #FutureofWork #Workspace #OfficeDesign #OfficeInteriors #Office

Lighting is an important part of creating vibrant spaces for people to use. The Third Street Promenade has SIX Miles worth of programmable strings of LED lights (64,800 individual lights) hanging above it. New programming is being developed to create even more vibrant spaces along the Promenade, just in time to welcome summer visitors.
I'm learning more about the functions of these #minleon lights that we use at Downtown Santa Monica, Inc. for the Third Street Promenade. It was nice to be out when the Promenade is alive and active in the evening. I sat in the street, playing with lights while people danced and played around me. More programming is coming soon, and I'm excited to do a playlist with music during Pride on the Promenade, June 22. Thanks for getting these great shots, Mandy Zelinka

FULLY LEASED! Flagship Retail at 4th Street + Broadway in Downtown Santa Monica Major congrats to CBM1’s Jason Ehrenpreis! Jason recently completed a lease with Lumee La ceramic arts studio on a +/-910 SF ground-level retail space in a mixed-use building at the intersection of 4th Street and Broadway in downtown Santa Monica. With Lumee La leasing the last remaining vacancy, joining Zero Latency VR Gaming Arcade and Rizo Sports Memorabilia, two new tenants also procured by Mr. Ehrenpreis, the iconic Bay Builder’s Exchange Building’s street retail component is now 100% occupied for the first time in nearly a decade. Lumee La is DIY (do it yourself) arts studio hosting individuals and groups of varying sizes in the guided creation of novel art projects, including Creamee Decorations, Squishy Charms, Artistic Candles, and Pouring Art. The studio is relocating from a prior location in West Los Angeles. The Bay Builder’s Exchange Building is landmark Spanish Colonial-style structure built in 1927. Now serving as a mixed-use commercial property, the building incorporates second and third-story office suites above ground-floor retail space. The subject space, a former fitness studio, fronts onto 4th street and is positioned adjacent to the hard corner. The high-profile location is situated at the epicenter of Santa Monica’s vibrant, thriving, and diverse community. Nearby points of interest include Santa Monica Place, 3rd St Promenade, and the famed Santa Monica Pier, along with A+ retailers, Target and Trader Joe’s, and thousands of multi-family residences and corporate offices.
