The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District, DowntownDC BID, DC Office of Planning, National Park Service, American Society of Landscape Architects, DC Department of Parks and Recreation, and District Department of Transportation (DDOT) are thrilled to announce a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a Farragut and McPherson Squares design charrette. Farragut Square, a key landmark in the Golden Triangle, plays a vital role in this initiative to not only preserve its rich historical heritage, but also to transform the area into truly connected destinations in Downtown. We invite landscape architecture firms to express their interest in participating in this transformative project in the heart of Downtown Washington, DC. Together, we are embarking on a visionary journey to revitalize the "Historic Green Triangle," located north of the White House, as outlined in the Downtown Action Plan D.C.'s Downtown Action Plan (reimaginedowntowndc.com). The charrette will be held in Washington, DC, in August and September 2024, with 3-4 firms selected to participate. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the vibrant transformation of a historic urban space. Interested firms can apply until Friday, July 12th at https://lnkd.in/e8esEie6 #UrbanRevitalization #LandscapeArchitecture #DowntownDC #GoldenTriangleDC #FarragutSquare

During #AANHPIHeritageMonth, #DDOTDC's Equity and Inclusion and the Planning and Sustainability Divisions collaborated to organize a bike ride celebrating the contributions, achievements, and influence of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders in #DC. The event included a meeting with the 1882 Foundation, where insights into the rich heritage of the AANHPI community were shared. The journey also featured a visit to Chinatown Park (Reservation 72), a beautifully revitalized green space that reflects the community's contributions. This initiative underscores the ongoing commitment to honor and celebrate the AANHPI community's impact on our city. Share your favorite AANHPI heritage sites or stories of how the community has enriched DC in the comments below! #AANHPIHeritageMonth #DDOTDC
