We are proud to support our local NOMA Detroit chapter by sponsoring a student to attend their annual youth architecture summer camp. Project Pipeline is a nationwide initiative, serving a diverse population of students, all of whom are underrepresented in architecture and adjacent professions. Using the built environment as a classroom, Project Pipeline challenges youth to grasp the significance of architecture in their daily lives, as well as the broader cultural, social, and historical implications. By connecting young people to real-world architects, planners, and other design professionals, the goal is to foster the next generation in preparation for college and a life of service. Students are given the skills and tools to be advocates of change through design, and contribute to their communities critically and constructively. Nation-wide, Project Pipeline has served over 10,000 students and counting. Together, we're building a brighter, more inclusive future!" #ProjectPipelineDetroit24

    Thank you for volunteering !

This week, a handful of 7GAE team members are joining members of NOMA Detroit to volunteer at this year’s Project Pipeline Summer Camp in Kalamazoo! A free, three-day camp held at Western Michigan University, Project Pipeline offers local students who are underrepresented in architecture and adjacent professions a chance to meet with real-world architects, planners, and other design professionals. It is exciting to see 7GAE team members volunteer with a program that increases students’ exposure to the world of architecture and hopefully sparks their interest in pursuing a design career. We are also excited to highlight the volunteerism of Nadine Nicole Rios-Rivas, 7GAE Project Coordinator, and Hayward Babineaux, Architectural Designer at Abonmarche, for championing the Kalamazoo Camp. Hayward and Nadine have been involved in the Project Pipeline Kalamazoo Camp since its inception in 2017. Their leadership and commitment to breaking down barriers such as cost and transportation for students have allowed the camp to grow from three students in the first year to 23 participants last summer! It will be great to see this year’s turnout and hear from our team members who are getting involved for the first time. Revit Designer

As we approach the last day of NOMA Project Pipeline I’m sitting here reflecting on the tremendous progress the students have made. so far they’ve learned how to develop a design from a concept, they’ve created wearable architecture, site analysis, model making, sketching, and some students have started developing their presentations in REVIT! It is such an honor and privilege to host camp. Thank you to NOMA Detroit for 10 strong years, thank you to all of the volunteers over the years, thank you to our sponsors, thank you to employers who support these efforts 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾 Tomorrow Friday August 26 at 1pm student will present their projects at University of Detroit Mercy School of Architecture. Stop by if you can

Urban Planner, Development Specialist, Tour Guide and more

Hello friends, Thank you to everyone who sent support for my Detroit Comes Out queer history walking tour post back in June! We're offering the tour again three more times this season, at 11:00 am on fourth Saturdays in July (27th), August (24th) and September (27th). Meet at the Guardian Building and learn about an underground community taking its first public baby steps toward visibility in Downtown Detroit before World War II. The link with tour and registration info is below here. At 2:00 pm on those same dates, I’m also doing a walking tour showcasing the incredible architectural sculpture of Corrado Parducci, a somewhat forgotten but incredibly important figure in architectural ornamentation in the 20th century. That link will be live at citytourdetroit.com shortly. https://lnkd.in/gUxeSCCD
