Thank you Anne Trujillo, for all that you've done for our community, our audience, and us. Story: https://lnkd.in/gztCme-9
After much reflection, I have decided to step away from my role as evening news anchor in November. It’s time for me to leave Denver7 and pursue the next chapter of my life—one that allows me the flexibility to pursue new passions as well as time with my family. I wanted you to hear the news directly from me. Many of you know that I’m an avid reader, so when one of my literary heroines, Isabel Allende, said, “I am not going to retire. I am going to renovate,” the words shot through me. I, too, will be renovating! When I leave the station, I plan to explore different opportunities to engage with the Colorado community in new and deeper ways. I’m excited to harness my curiosity and to challenge myself. It’s almost inconceivable to me that nearly 40 years have passed since I first joined Denver7 as a general assignment reporter. As many of you know, not only did I build my career here, but my family as well. I met my husband Mike Kalush, a photographer, on day one, raised two wonderful children, and am now a proud “Lita” to my two grandchildren. I look forward to taking a much needed break from some of the heavy news of the past few years before I make any further commitments. One thing’s for certain: I’m not leaving this beautiful state. I am a Coloradan and this is my forever home. I look forward to finishing strong during my last months at the station and to all the adventures beyond. Thank you again for your friendship and support. It means the world to me.
